OP if you are getting BSOD - what is your error code directing to?

Wouldn't be surprised if its a GPU overheating issue with people running older cards SWTOR can push some cards to their limits of performance.

There certainly is some client side issues with some people's systems. I can play every other game fine but this crashes to desktop randomly (on average twice an hour). It's not something I'd expect Bioware to comment on though and can only assume those of us who posted our logs will be passed on the right people and they'll be looking at ways to implement fixes for it asap.

Beta weekends = no problem at all, running at constant 60+ FPS.
EGA = laggy as hell, FPS fluctuating between 60 and 5 all the time.

The ONLY thing that changed between those two dates is the SWTOR client which was patched. I have literally NOTHING installed on this rig apart from SWTOR. And if the only change was the client change, then...?

So yeah, sorry, but logic disagrees with you.

You know, now that I think about it, this doesn't really belong in General Discussion. It probably should have gone in Customer Service rather than here. The Devs probably aren't going to answer you in General Discussion unless they stumble across this thread while they're closing the troll threads.

EDIT: By the way, I can't help but notice that most of the people experiencing FPS drops have NVIDIA cards. Try downloading the 290.53 beta driver from NVIDIA's website. The regular driver (version 285.62) seems to have issues with The Old Republic that the beta has supposedly fixed. It's probably the same situation for you ATI people too, but I don't have an ATI card, so I don't know if they offer beta drivers and even if they do, I don't know if they've fixed compatibility with SWTOR yet.

Incidentally, the newest NVIDIA beta drivers also seem to fix numerous issues with Skyrim and a few with Battlefield 3 as well.

I mentioned this in my last post, but as it was kind of a wall of text that addressed a few other problems as well, I bet most of you missed it.

Thankyou for communicatiing. It is very much appreciated

Ignore TradewindNQ guys, he has been trolling and arguing with any topic that talks about issues and performance issues with the game. Not worth replying to.

With over 200,000+ players and 1000's of posts reporting issues with the performance of the client across facebook, twitter, nvidia, ati, swtor, gaming forums etc, it is safe to say whatever the trolls/fanboi's like to think and yes that's what they are, it is not user error or user sided problems that are causing these issues for the majority, maybe a few minors are caused by user error but to assume just because you don't have an issue everyone who does is user error or user sided is just plain ignorant and stupid.

I have some suggestions for you old guys, if this is the case:
Disagreeing is not trolling, being ignorant is not trolling, having a different opinion is not trolling, arguing for your different opinion is not trolling. You do not have to argue back. Petting namecalling and one-upping and calling people out (system specs) is not going to improve your argument and does not mean you have the upper hand or are better at discussing, it only means you have a weakness for logical fallacies.
Dude. Not sure what you mean by middle-age, but most "older" gamers have been gaming since we had to login with 2400 baud modems. We've been tuning, patching, and fixing our machines probably longer than most of you younger gamers have been alive so... no. When I was your age, your above argument was true of people in their 40's and above. Not any more. If anything, the younger generation is actually more ignorant about how the internet works than those of us who have been here since the beginning.

Was running perfectly fine until the hotfix this morning....and thats from playing beta and early access right up until today.

load the game as usual...playing just fine for 10 minutes....screen garbles and black screens forcing me to reset....hrm, could it be a one off? try again...same thing, and again.

This is definatley a server side issue to do with something that has messed with some setting or other that is grossly effecting certain system builds while others might notice the odd "hiccup" lagspike every now and then, I've tried litterally everything, gone through everything...even had the case off and switched around components with my backup spares....and still the same story.

I've tried the very last thing on my list to hopefully rectify this issue outside of formatting the hard drive the game is on and doing a clean install which was running repair file...I'm hoping it works or Bioware gets this issue sorted because in all my years of mmorpg gaming, this is the first time I've ever experienced an issue with a game that has me worried for my own systems integrity...(bsod and forcing a warm boot cannot be healthy for your PC life).

To those of you rehashing "it's fine"....the issue wasn't wide spread as such until the past few days and has gotten worse with each hotfix they have done...whatever it is, it clearly has something to do with one of the files they are altering with those hotfixes.

Oh! So great you figured it out. What a relief, I'll let the 2,000 posters who are having this problem know. Awesome thanks for your support.

To add, I now have to get a new graphics card, it appears the issue is DEFINATLEY related to GFX, my graphics card is now fried and useless...GG

I highly advise caution for those of you experiencing issues and would say do not try to log in until you have some kind of confirmation that the black screen issue is solved....otherwise you might end up having to fork out for a new GFX card....luckly for me I'm in the middle of building a new system anyway.....still not happy about it though ><
