As of Nov 23, 2013 the Alt-Tab workaround is effective.

Yeah, I had to switch my viewing mode to windowed instead of windowed (full-screen) so I can minimize it and I don't have problems. However, you giving the date above is sad; this thread was started on 11.15.2012, which means they haven't fixed the issue in over a year.

I still can't. I've done it twice and it's completely stopping me from progressing my trooper. Sigh....

CTD as soon as Esseles activate its hyperdrive. Hadn't done it at launch and started playing again recently, now I can't complete Esseles at all unless I alt-tab (thanks for that workaround btw).

Alt-tab is not a guaranteed fix. I can get it to work every so often but most of the time it's CTD. Devs don't give a toss about this issue, it will never be fixed, has been in game for well over a year.

Either that, or they simply don't have any coders around who can fix it. Content creation teams wouldn't be able to fix this kind of crash.

And yes, happening still. In fact, the last time I played (more than half a year ago) I never crashed... but now I crash every time. So maybe my drivers are too new (Not that I plan on going back on them.)

I had this happen to me yesterday (didn't get credit as the group finder team completed before i re-connected). It happened a second time today when I did it with 1 guild mate. Today I CTD and my guildmate waited. Then we started the conversation again and HE CTD!!!! so we waited again. The 3rd time we were able to be successful.

we both play in windowed mode as we have multiple monitors. I am sure SWTOR was still active tho.

1) both of us had Arc Jorgan out when I crashed. hitting spacebar to skip convo.
2) I reconnected without my companion, he then crashed at the same point. again hitting spacebar to skip convo.
3) he reconnected without his companion, we started convo again and this time let it play through and we were successful completing the quest.

I'm not saying this is a workaround, simply reporting my experience.

It's a very old bug, I always make a point of telling the group to alt-tab just before we go to Hyperspace just in case anyone didn't know about the issue and the fix. Sometimes I forget though and watch as someone in the group gets kicked

I guess bugs like this with a player work-around become low priority

Why would they even bother trying to fix it? there is a workaround, which pretty much removes their need to put in the effort, all companies do it.
