Dual Spec. Still want it.

There is nothing wrong IMO with a desire to want specs to have meaning, much like a desire to want ACs to have meaning.

However, my guess would be most folks love the easy respec feature, and would welcome the ability to save one or two setups for quick switching.

Let me know if I'm wrong here, but if I understand the request correctly, all people want is for respeccing to take less time through use of presets. Is that right?

At present I have 9 lvl 55 characters. 1 is a gunslinger and can only DPS. The other 8 are all ACs that can fill multiple roles. 5 of them switch between DPS/Heals or DPS/Tank based on what I want to do at that time, or what my guild needs me to do.

I have full sets of other-role gear which I keep on companions rather than haul around in my various characters' inventories.

The field-respec (legacy perk for 200k), which I buy on all my characters, saves me from having to go to the skill trainer whenever I want to respec.

When pressed, I can re-gear and respec any of my characters in under 5 minutes even if I don't entirely remember the alternate skill trees and have to read through descriptions. If I'm familiar with the skill tree layout I can respec in under 30 seconds.

A dual spec option, as I think I understand it, would mean that what takes me 1 to 5 minutes to accomplish would be made near-instantaneous (after I go through the time of setting up each spec). So as I see the request is not for new functionality, the request is that existing functionality be streamlined. It's just a request for convinience, similar to the interface editor and custom saved UIs.

I believe that's likely it, the idea is that you can save a spec setup, quickbar setup and the like for a quick change. Even if it had a cooldown it would be quite convenient....a cooldown would not interfere with the ability to respec like it is currently set up IMO.

Yes they need Dual spec, field respect is a nice place holder but doesn't really cut it. Its fun to see the weird reasons the game killer crowd don't want yet another qol improvement to the game though.

This is so untrue. Dual spec was released in the first major patch of WotLK and it was brilliant. The dual spec isn't what lead the talent system to go t*ts up for wow. Blizz took a strong look at their new target audience because they realised they were loosing a lot of the older subs and consequently made a radical change to make the game more child friendly because they knew that they were on the way out so they better do something to get as much money as possible. They are still going sort of but most of the players who are still there are the big fans of warcraft who enjoy the game too much to quit which is fine.

It is completely unrealistic to say this will make the game easier. Other players in this threat are saying 'convenience' which is the key word here. It doesn't make the game easier because you still put your points in and still have to buy it so it doesn't become easier. More time to play games for everyone, just because you have time to sit there for 10mins every time you want to change spec doesn't mean everyone does so y'know lighten up and think of others.

Ummm.. Nope.. Sorry.. Your post is completely false.. With the exception for the time in which dual spec'ing was released..

The reason that player skill diminished is because nobody specialized.. They didn't have to anymore.. A tank could become a healer and then a dps on a whim.. I can remember countless times, people trying to perform a role without having the gear.. Or an inexperienced healer or tank was asked to do end game content.. All thanks to dual spec'ing..

Blizzard had to nerf the raids at least 3 times that I know of.. They did an additional nerf for pug raid groups.. Again all because of dual spec'ing.. You can deny it all you want.. That doesn't change the facts or the truth.. I saw all this happened.. I had a paladin.. I dual spec'd.. Been there done that.. You also never addressed the other issue.. By the time Cata was released, the most popular classes were classes that can perform all 3 roles.. Again thanks to dual spec'ing.. This was also the time that people started demanding triple spec'ing.. It was either the very end of WOTLK or shortly after the release of Cata that WOW really started losing subs.. Long time players started leaving because the game was getting to easy.. While dual spec'ing played a role in this, it wasn't the only reason.. Gone were the days of having specialized toons for specific things.. Nobody built the be all end all twink or PVP toon.. Nobody had a toon that was nothing but a tank.. This is all 100% fact.. There is no dishonesty here.. This is all common sense and cause and effect fact..

The only way to basically get rid of dual spec'ing is to do exactly what Blizzard did.. Get rid of the talent trees.. So.. I am sorry.. You are most certainly entitled to your opinions.. You are not entitled to your own facts.. I was there when all this happened.. I read the posts from Blizzard about when the decisions was made to go to the new system for MOP.. Dual spec'ing is bad for the game.. Simple as that..

What we have is fine.. At the very least it is free... People don't need an easy button..

Also, make no mistake.. In video games, there is little difference between convenience and easy..
Who is the more foolish? The fool or the fool that follows him?

TOR is literally the only MMO I've ever played where people rabidly oppose quality of life improvements and features on a regular basis.

The majority of MMOs have dual spec. TOR should too.

Healer main, but it would sure be nice to click a button and switch to DPS when doing my dailies.

I went to Rift for a few months and their dual spec is the best I've ever seen. It's literally instant.

Convenience is NEVER a bad thing.

I find it fun to read the excuses people have for laziness, and the many different ways they try to convince themselves and others that it is not laziness, even though they know it is.

NONNONO you got it wrong, players DOESNT oppose to QoL improvements, we players love them, its just the fanboi base and Biodrones that go jumping from thread to thread bashing everything that goes against: "Game is perfect as it is right now, theres no room for improvements", plain sad, if they just realized ... well, just check my signature
A long time from now, in a galaxy far, far away, fanbois will realize they hurt games they love in a way no troll could ever dream of.
