Lore has nothing to do with the character you want to make. Its yours, its not canon and you should be able to make it look like what you want it to be.

I really dislike people who try to tell others what they should do with their characters. You have authority over your character, no one elses. You dont like others? Dont look. The world isnt yours. They pay for the game just like you do.

Many Jedi took the light saber of a sith in combat. Anakin, Obi-Wan, ... So, they can hold it and fight.

And is there any reason why my smuggler, jedi or what ever character can't wear the jacket of an imperial officer?

Go to a flea market buy a german WWII uniform, try it! You can wear it, even if you are not german. Its just a piece of cloth. There is no magic in an imperial officer jacket, or their boots.

That can be worn by both Factions?
So the empire will now have Troopers on fleet and Republic have a Imperial Officer running around on their fleet?'
It never occurred to you that a ... let's say Smuggler ... could use an Eradicator's mask as a trophy and then decide to wear it himself ?

And aren't Social Vendor's armor sets basically trophies, too ?

You do know of that deleted scene where an ROTS Clone Trooper dressed himself like a Jedi, don't you ?

And don't forget Adi Gallia's light sabre colour ...

Also, if I recall correctly, the color crystal restrictions were removed basically in order to accommodate blasters. It was strange for all of the light-side troopers, smugglers, bounty hunters, and agents to run around firing off green lasers when almost all of the hand-held blasters in the films, etc. fired red.

Here lore was broken when George Lucas introduced , Jar Jar Binks .... !!!!

there you have it , so if he can do it , why can't Bioware
In a period where everything is unwritten !

Lore does not get broken as long as none of what players do get registered in the codex of Star Wars.
And I'm pretty sure that Disney and Lucas Arts don't give a hoot about what your character looks like... Since it will never be recorded in the history of Star Wars (other than "the jedi that killed the whatnot" here and there in official lore)

I kind of liked the system how leveling gear was changing its appearance when used by different factions. Imo this would be a good trend to continue with the Cartel Market gear as well, but... i guess BW doesn't want to bother with this.

Anyone who actually got the ewok knows from Treek's first ship conversation that she is probably more suited to the Empire than the Republic. She's a violent and sometimes creepily innocent little thing. Similarly, her conversation also keeps the lore intact.

Short answer: Because "Lore" doesn't matter.

Yep, this is an MMO and while it may have some things based in "Lore", you can't artificially restrict players for no other reason than some nebulous adherence to "Lore".

"Lore" provides a base, the players then get to...well, play. The moment a character is created on a server, "Lore" is shot because I can guarantee that no where in the "Lore" will you find a character of your type with your name doing all the things you do.

Slavish adherence to "Lore" just won't work in an MMO.

You clearly have no idea how the crystal system worked at launch. It was based on your alignment, not your faction. If you had a dark jedi he was forced to use a red crystal. If you had a light sith he was forced to use a green or blue crystal.

What you said is completely unaligned with how the old system worked.
