Please no. Disney would hamstring him to the point where whatever game you got wasn't his interpretation of the concept, it would be Disney's. If they make an MMO all they will need to run the design shop is a mechanic, they will make every single creative decision.

OP, thanks for the link. RK often has very good, very smart things to say. Having written that, I also think that while it's nice for us to read it should be mandatory for Bioware to read.
From Beta - "I don't think it's reasonable to try and judge what is not in the game based on what we have not seen yet, in a game we have not played yet." Present Day - "It's ok, you can starting judging now."

I read the blog on a regular basis. We are all fans in the office.

"Mandatory for Bioware to read" is really just a cute ad hominem that implies that they do not read or listen to feedback. There is plenty of evidence that this is simply NOT true. It is true that all feedback is not incorporated into the game or Biowares business practices...which is completely realistic given the amount of feedback that is blatantly hyperbolic, false, or biased to a narrow set of players desires/demands.

So while we are at it... let's make it mandatory that all players not only read RK.. but understand him in context....because frankly his commentary is being distorted for biased convenience by some players.

point of procedure from the moderators, if that's allowed

this is a case where a poster is using the term "ad hominem" in a way that is both an attack on the poster and an insult to english language. wouldn't it be prudent for us to see a similar course of action as you took on jurgens, which he spoke about in a thread you guys deleted this morning? if andryah stopped posting for 7 days, the world would be a better place. this is only a request for information, typically allowed in polite society following the procedure established in robert's rule. i don't know if it's allowable by the forum rules. if we aren't allowed to discuss moderation, then we obviously can't know what we are or are not allowed to post, and if the attacks i quoted here are allowable while jurgen's were not, it is impossible for me to know what you guys find acceptable or not. thanks.

I like this.

I also don't understand the whole RK thing. His legacy isn't great, or even good. SWG galaxies, when you take off the rose colored glasses was a complicated, buggy, unfinished mess.

SWG was not a good "game". It had some neat ideas but was by no means an excellent game...

I have to disagree with one certain bit. There is such thing as wrong feedback.
it usually comes from people who are misinformed about certain thing in game, or think something should work certain way they want it to, even though it was never meant to work that way, etc. That is not a constructive or even good feedback.

This thread is pretty entertaining. Raph wrote a really great article, and its pretty obvious some of the high profile defenders dont like it. But Raph has way more experience than those folks, and I'll believe what he says any day over the self appointed experts. Like he said, "Everyone who dislikes your work is right". No, they arent necessarily right on technical details, but their opinion is genuine and valid.

Therefore even if someone doesnt express themselves in the most mature or constructive way, you can still ask yourself "what aspect of gameplay is this person actually upset about? how can this aspect of gameplay be improved?". It is the people who arent willing to admit that every game has flaws and violently attack and insult the people who point them out that are the most harmful part of any gaming community.

Guys, please do me a favor and leave the personal war you have with certain members of the community out of this thread.

I would appreciate it.

Sure, but I would think that doesn't happen that often in the overall group of feedback.
