Wildstar and ESO

I would hope everyone would know better than to make judgements in advance. No MMO is perfect. We just dont know wich flaws these two will have yet.

Nope, I don't play mobile games at all, I only play PC games.

I did not say anywhere in my post that graphics are the deciding factor in games that I play; said I happen to like whimsical style and don't think that they mean the game is childish. There's actually quite a few examples of games with cartoony graphics that are VERY adult. I also never said I *only* like cartoon-ish graphics, I like dark, or photo-realistic styles as well - but then again, it's all about the play style, and how creatively the design team envision the game's world.

Same here I initially blew WildStar off when I saw the graphics a mistake I almost made when Everquest 2 and WoW were in open beta at that point I never considered WoW as even a contender until I actually played it the result was I never did play EQ2 and neither did a lot of other people.

MMO's can be like a pretty girl that you later realize has no personality and you have nothing in common with it won't last long versus a girl who might be average looking but, has a great personality and you have much in common with.

On a side note WildStar's art style was influenced by Ratchet and Clank from Insomniac Games you can compare the influence here and here. It's not a coincidence that the planet that WildStar takes place on is called Nexus and the new game in the series from R&C is subtitled "Into the Nexus".

The NCsoft relationship with Carbine is exactly like it was with Paragon. IE: US studio 100% owned by NCsoft.

Carbine is a captive studio. They will do whatever NCsoft tells them to do.. or they will shut them down. They can move WS to any other NCsoft studio if it's worth keeping alive.

I would challenge this being factual.

honestly in my opinion there are too many High Fantasy MMOs out there already so ESO isn't even on my radar...
as for Wildstar isn't that game based on a cartoon from the '80s of the same name with heavy racist overtones toward Native Americans and foreigners in general?.. so no to that one as well, i will never support the hate machine...
anyways it's too cartoony for my taste, i play characters not toons, they should have just made it 2D and Cell Shaded if they wanted to go the cartoon route...

No clue what you are talking about or how you made the connection to some cartoon from over two decades ago that I've never heard of but, as I posted earlier WildStar's art style is influenced by Ratchet & Clank and the atmosphere is said to be influenced by the TV series Firefly with that space western feel and some dark humor.

..also why would any studio/publisher create/finance any game with heavy racist overtones with the expectation that it will make lots of money?

i wasn't stating it as fact, i was only asking if it was in any way connected with the cartoon of the same name, and further stating if so there is no way i'd ever support it... if not i'd give it a chance as long as it doesn't look like an R&C knockoff...
as for influenced by Firefly i'd have to say as a huge fan of the show and movie it's totally laughable, there is no way that game is inspired by one of the greatest Space Westerns ever, i'd rather keep waiting for the Firefly MMO before i play that, based on that ridiculous claim...

Wildstar - Worse cartoony feeling than WoW (and I loved WoW for it's looks.)

Will not pick this one up just for that. I can't get into a game that I can't stand to look at. Plus, the characters.. Cat girls? Not my taste (Except you know in certain situations.)

ESO - I'll give it a try I'm highly skeptical though. Not sure how ESO will do "end game" or PvP. First person MMO with the option of third person is very appealing though. Since I quit WoW and GW2 hasn't really kept me interested, I need a fantasy mmo to kill time on.
