The depressing thing is that most of the obnoxious people in General Chat are (supposedly) adults. When confronting the players behind the most obnoxious or offensive behavior, I've found the majority of them to be over the age of 25.

(Of course, they might just say that... but I don't know of many jerk teens who will happily claim to be 30)

I guess part of writing this post was because I compare most MMO communities to Lotro. Wish they were all like that.
I find it odd how willing the Shire chat will be to break into song about taters.

Maybe that's the problem with the SWTOR community. No cute little hobbits to make people happy!

I haven't really noticed a difference in general chat since Day 1 of this game. You can pretty much predict what you're going to see in general chat every time you log in. It is pretty bad....but it's always been bad. This is nothing new.

Speaking of little cute furry things, I haven't gotten the Tweek yet. Is she any good?

I agree that the community was much more interactive and helpful in the beginning, but man, everyone was so stinkin' pumped in the beginning. Throw up an invite for a heroic or flashpoint and you more than likely got way more requests than room in the party. Loads of random gen chat and I don't recall it ever getting bad or degenerating beyond aimless banter.

Now there's mostly silence. People go about their own business and that's that. I have seen tons of unanswered requests for grouping.

It sometimes depends on the luck of the draw when you log in. Earlier today, people were being very helpful and actually telling off people that were being jerks.

It is worse than wow ever was. My ignore list is legendary, I have a small list of friends that I interact with who are "normal" people and the rest can DIAF. Hideous excuses for human beings!
