I think that part of his point is that CoH never really had a progression model either. In fact, if memory serves the only thing that could have been considered close in that game was that at some point you got a cape at level 20- which most people never wore anyway and veterans got certain wing sets for being long-time subscribers.

And, as for the hardcore vs casual thing is concerned, after years of subscribing to that game, all of my friends and family dumped it when they released all of that "hardcore end-content" junk that caused them to nerf everyone's toons while leaving the mission and bad guy difficulty the same which made it nearly impossible for anyone to progress without having to almost constantly team even for their class missions.

So, I'm not too sure that it's that the players are getting more casual so much as that MMO's are catching onto the fact that the average player just isn't as hardcore as everyone originally thought because they either never played those hardcore games or just quietly quit taking their money with them.

Well MMO's are about looks but they used to be more tied to the looks and rarity of your gear / weapons too. Not sure I like all these skins and re-skins of weapons myself , I preferred the mega super rare weapon that i earned myself. Like in PSU , mind you a lot of people on that game spent a hell of a lot of time changing their looks in the make up shop.

Cheers,

BadOrb.

Hey, the tionese sage set! Mine's wearing that atm since I'm too cheap and lazy to equip decent looking gear while PVP leveling 50 - 55. Sir Alec looks much better in his, but the embarassment of it motivates me to put out extra DPS.

Hey! If it wasn't for this fashion show, I wouldn't be playing swtor much anymore.

Appearance is only a minor consideration for a minority of players.

This made me feel a little awesome.

Is anyone here interested about how your character perform, about character stats, about gameplay itself, about new new content, achievements, world bosses mechanics and such?
Cosmetics are "gameplay itself." You may not wish to engage in that facet of game play, but that's your affair.

I don't agree about the nothing else but the looks have become increasingly more important

and the funny thing about that is I don't think I 'm exaggerating too much when I say this game has the ugliest gear both cash shop and rewarded gear of any recent game out, and probably not just mmos either, any game

ugly mounts ugly pets ugly armor, even excluding a few recent awesome emotes their emotes are ugly lol, just a bad mix of bad mmo styles, bad sci-fi styles, weird clipping and oversized features... its all just so bad
