I'm definitely not saying I don't care about how my character performs...however, I have to like the way my character looks to be able to care about how it performs.

I think they are kind of over for all devs everywhere finally.

Of course, IMO.. the end game default gear in SWTOR is still produced and distributed by ClownsRus... but at least I can pull the mods an burn the skins and put the mods on decent looking gear.
LOL, yes, the gear slot machine still survives in some small form. It is unlikely we will see a complete end to Clowngear any time soon. I am happy to see that they have abandoned the visual progression model for the most part...though some remnants remain.

I dare you to look like this and tell me you don't care about how your character looks in game. That's right, because you do care. Looking cool is just as important as performance. So stop pretending like you don't give a crap about looks.

Is anyone here interested about how your character perform, about character stats, about gameplay itself, about new new content, achievements, world bosses mechanics and such?

Instead we get a ton of posts/threads like "armor looks ugly", " mount and armor clipping issues", "BW, where is that greenish-whitish-blackish etc dyes we wait for sooooo long", "where is that cool looking hat for my scoundrel" etc etc etc.

What is this - a barbie shop? Little girls not happy with their barbies dress color " its too red, we want a bit more orangeish".
Dont we have enough balance problems, bugs, story inconsistencies, computer incompatiblities, cartel market nonsense etc to talk about minor details in looks?
More and more I have a feeling Im in a kindergarten.
When you look as good as I do people take me on ops just to stand there and be glorious. Ability is nothing looks is everything end of.

Appearance and playing "dress up" have been parts of MMO's since day 1. City of Heroes owed much of its long life to robust appearance options. CoH was considered a very casual game in its day. If it were released tomorrow though, it would be a hard core game for MENSA members in comparison to the fluff that passed for an MMO today.

The market no longer exists for hard core gamers because there are no hard core games in the market. It's as simple as that.

I won't argue the point. I will only say that games have been moving away from the visual progression model recently...among other things that demonstrate a changing market IMO.

Even in DDO - which is HEAVY with these questions ! - there is a certain amount of "dressing".

And don't say that this is different in RL. It isn't. If you believe so, then you might have a problem out there.

"Games" are NOT about mathematics.

I personally want my character to look bad a** while I tear it up. I care very much about appearances in mmo's because of the time and effort you put into them and want them to look good as well.
