Can we get a developer dialogue going on why class stories are not in the cards?

For a company that started out -- and has their headquarters -- in Canada you'd think they'd have hit up a Canadian location by now.

I'd prefer Toronto -- because, well, we are the centre of the universe -- but Edmonton and Montreal (where they have offices) would also make a lot of sense. I might be willing to hold my nose and hit up Montreal . Edmonton, beautiful city as it is, is just a tad bit too far...

Yeah, I'm in Toronto too hehe. Need to get out of the city before long weekend traffic gets into gear. It would be nice to get them here for a cantina tour though.

We're not asking for them to be our pen pals here.

So commenting on a post asking for the Dev's to comment is ok but making a post asking for the Dev's to comment is not ok? I'm not sure it's suppose to work that way but whatever. Posting to communicate with the Devs I understand. Posting to tell other people not to ask Dev's questions I don't understand.

I know if the Dev's ever came to Ontario, Canada I'd be all over them with questions. Until then I'll have to use the General Forums.

Oh and PMing the Devs? Really?
It's fine to make a post asking a question. Making a post that specifically wants a Dev answer tends to not get answered by Dev's. Throwing a hissy-fit because other forum goers are responding because they've read the Dev Tracker and gone to the Cantina events where such questions were asked...therein lies the problem.

I never said the Dev's would respond to a PM, only that PM's are one on one questions and the General Forum is not.

It's a valid question, but jumping on everyone that responds with the information they've gotten through various means because "they aren't Dev's" is just ignorant.

The class stories are the only reason I play the game. Not to be overly critical but I find the combat is clumbsy and rough as hell compared to other MMO's, and the planets are too linear more like a single player game than an MMO, not much of a free-roaming world to speak of, rather a collection of corridors.

To me this is a massive and very good Co-Op RPG game and the only reason I have started to play again (I played beta through to prelaunch) is so that I can play through the class quests with a friend. 2 years on (including beta) and the combat is still clumbsy as ever, but I play because of the class quests.

I've spoken to others who had the viewpoint so I don't think I'm alone in my thoughts. The class quests are the biggest selling point of the whole game, why they wouldn't want to cash in on that I don't know.

I think the OP did an excellent job of acknowledging the other statements made by the Devs on the subject of group story vs class story as well as illustrating; 1) some of the improvements that can be made in how the different classes are acknowledged/treated within the group story and 2) how class stories can be continued on a smaller scale by incorporating them into the larger faction story.

Great ideas that are worth discussing. The original post is something I'd hope the Devs would read, consider and comment on. I support the ideas and hope they give it serious thought.

The answer is simple: Because they can't sell the class advancement stories on the cartel market.

This company and it's 'parents' are only about one thing - money. That's why the cartel market sees 3 times more updates then the game itself. It's all about greasing the palms of EA at this point, and has been this way for quite some time. This should've been painfully evident as 2.0 brought zero individual class story advancement yet folks had to pay 10-20 bucks for it.

By ending class stories they will effectively end their own game since its was the driving force behind the reasoning people played and their most touted feature

That would be like wow saying they are cancelling raids

If it were that simple, there wouldn't be a 10 page thread with almost 100 responses.

They can't sell two faction stories either, that's why they made an expansion out of it and sold it for $10.
