SWTOR unleashed may still help you depending on how you set it up. Even the slowest RAM in a modern PC is faster than accessing the data from the fastest SSD even in Raid 0. SWTOR itself loads less than 2gigs into RAM. With 32 gigs you could load the entire program into the RAMDisk using unleashed which, other than the initial load time, I can assure you in the worst case scenario will not be slower than running it normally.

Good tip about Orginpc, but the trigger has already been pulled... maybe in a few years when I'm ready to spend another $4500, haha.
You spent 4500 dollars on a computer?

I have a i7 3770K with two GTX 670's 2 SSD's and 64 gigs of memory and I built mine for well under $1500.

Sorry but Alienwares are rip offs. They used to be good now they're just not. I run everything a max settings without even a bit of lag.

fair point,
my only concern was that 'unleashed' might cause some conflict or other problem that would not be easy to diagnose.
better to get the game running smooth (smoother) with out it first. then maybe see if unleashed can provide some improvement.

also, with the spec's the OP's rig has I don't see unleashed as a 'must have to run the game' issue (just imo).

still, as I said, you make a fair point. -

The biggest issue I have seen with unleashed is people forgetting to click the "Remove and Quit" button before they try to run the updater which can really cause some confusing issues as the pointers are still in place telling the program the files are on the RAM Disk instead of the hard drive.

Your point that a PC spec'd like the OP's should not need unleashed is true and BioWare really does need to do some hard work to recode this game into something that isn't cobbled together crap (from a code PoV).

This game ran so smooth in beta, up until about 6 weeks from launch. They really messed something up back then.

We told them in the beta forums, and it never really improved. My video card fan never revved up before that, and since then it runs at 60% speed. I run more graphics intensive games, and they run perfectly on highest settings. This game does not.

I figured a ramdrive would be faster than any SSD. That's why I gave unleashed a try... and it works pretty well as far as loading times.

In fact, I'd go as far to suggest that you stop licking the interior of your computer case if you've got a setup like this, yet still can't squeeze satisfactory performance out of it.

To use the vernacular: you done goof'd.

Who said I can't squeeze satisfactory performance out of it? This computer kicks ***... it's just SWTOR that was being a pain, and we figured out that SLI has an issue with the re sizing of nameplates. Turned that off, and everything runs just as smooth as the other games I have.

Appreciate the help.

No idea, but I do know that it's a popular perspective amongst amateur builders (of systems, that is) that...

bigger numbers = better performance

...and that is all there is to it.

Kinda weird to me, really. SSDs are neat tech, but they come with their own issues for anyone who's dealt with them more than drooling over the specs for one on NewEgg.
