Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi always looked like bums to me.
Looking for a good woman. Able to clean, cook, sew, catch bait, and clean fish. Must have boat and motor.
((Please send picture of boat and motor))

Cited as one of the top reasons folks were turned off by this game across the web (ranged from top five to top twenty depending on the list, sometimes listed as lack of character customization in gear), it is obvious to me that this was a serious design flaw that should have NEVER been part of the game.

Returning visual progression to this game would be returning to the failed aspects of the design that caused the game to tank in the first place IMO.

Just say no to visual progression as a game standard...it deserves a place among a diversified set of appearance options, including the CM.
Agree wholeheartedly. Visual progression was such a completely, obviously, stupid idea that I'm really surprised that the game launched with that as a design goal. Clothes are just clothes. Allowing people to wear what they want takes nothing from those who want to 'earn' their gear.

in a video game.

What happens when SWTOR's servers shut down? Do you fall into a deep depression because all of your "achievements" were wiped away? Games should be about enjoyment. Having a carrot on the stick is excellent to keep you enjoying and consuming -- but it is a tad scary when people start to blur the lines between real life achievments and a video game.
I believe some people are very sad when a game shuts down. There are plenty of people who take it all way too seriously.

People who enjoy spending their time playing a game should probably feel sad if that game is taken away from them. They're losing a source of entertainment.

I know -- it makes me feel sad for them.

I've met people who play video games 30+ hours every week -- and complain that they are "poor." Well -- if you spent 15 of those hours doing something to advance your knowledge/career -- you'd be in a much better place by now!

Games are meant for entertainment. I think everyone needs to remember to step back every now and then, and realize it. No entertainment? Stop playing the game. Another game is better? Why aren't you playing that? Wouldn't it make more sense?

Now -- giving constructive criticism is always fine. People want a game to be better. But to complain that a cash shop ruins a "sense of achievement" -- well, that "achievement" doesn't exist in the first place, so how can it be taken away?

=D

There's something else waiting to take its place. Feeling some minor sense of disappointment is one thing. Getting worked up to the point of becoming depressed (assuming that has happened, which it probably has) is another. It's a matter of perspective, lack of which gives rise to the phrase "first world problem."

They do, haven't you seen the people who still complain about this game not being SWG?

And all the complaining hasn't got this game any closer to SWG, has it?

Rose-colored glasses are wonderful, eh?

Hahaha, that is a very good point!

My favorite is the crowd who constantly measures this game based on WoW -- but refuses to play WoW because it "isn't cool anymore."
