I agree with you that we can set up pvp events on our own

That being said, there are a few things i do not like about our currently situation.

1st and foremost...the planets are designed in a way that prevents alot of access to other factions areas, I assume this was to prevent lowbie ganking, but IMO the disclaimer is there when you roll on a pvp server. It does not affect PvE servers at all unless you are flagged and again whose fault is that by your own if you get dead.

This can be fixed by making some access points, removing exhaustion zones or just smoothing out some areas so they can be transversed.

2nd is of course the lack of any reward or objectives for pvp outside of pvp in warzones.
-simply offer comms for kills.
-Collections with titles for open world pvp kills are also a great way to get people out there....people love titles

MY SOLUTION FOR OPEN WORLD PVP

SWG had created something awesome in its twilight called the GCW update
In this update you could swap an area of a planet from imp to reb controller by killing NPCs or other players.
- This could not be done the same exactly because we cant affect the planets factional presence, but rather specific regions only and rewards could be adaptive armor sets/stims or heal stims that are offered if your faction controls that area
- There was also an hourly rotation of invasions, were basically an area would become under attack by the other faction and partaking in these events gave rewards. This was both PvE and PvP, if you flagged PvP during the event you got double tokens. These tokens got you rewards plus they were a ton of fun.

There are outposts all over the galaxy and if we had some rotating invasions, this would be good for both PvE and PvP as well as give us reasons to travel back to old planets.

On a PVE server, it is not unreasonable to expect to do quests that are NOT marked [PVP] and NOT in open pvp areas that flag you without being involuntarily flagged and ganked by lurking PVPtards.

On a PVE server, I would rather expect to have the option in preferences to check a box marked "NEVER flag me for PVP," so that such things didn't happen.
Then report the player - I was under the impression that AOE's no longer did that. Are you 100% certain??

As far as your "I never wanna do that" flag...L O L! Then don't take the missions. Don't enter the zones. PvPers don't get a "Never ever fight an NPC" option...why are you so special? What makes you as a PvEer worth catering more to??? Are you THAT scared of PvP??? Geezus dude...get a grip...it's a game.

Try to message you the link but couldn't.
I'll check it out! Many thanks for this heads up...very interesting!!!

edit: reddit! WOW! Sounds...interesting! Kinda gives a mini-preview of what the arenas may be too. Thank you for the info!

Pretty much. The reward IS THE ACTION, not some candy at for playing.

As soon as a PvPer complains that incentives and rewards are needed.. I do not believe they are actually interested in open world PvP. They want the candy.

The "candy" is incentive. The "candy" keeps the playground filled. Without the "candy", most kids run off to somewhere else they can get it. Even PvPers need credits Andryah - modding a new suit costs a crap ton.

SWTOR is, by design, all about gear progression - gear>all. Any open world PvP needs to compete with Warzones because WZ's are the only way to get the gear needed to be competitive. If there was no advantage to the newest gear set, players would stop chasing it and world PvP might be more common...but sadly, there's only one way to gear up.

Right, because us PvPers are the reason for Expertise right? Have you ever tried OWPvP without full Conq gear? Or at the very least, full Partisan gear? 1 level 55 will destroy 5+ ungeared level 55's. ONE! Remove Expertise from this game and I'd love to see what happens. Make it all equal gear, no matter how it was attained, and I bet OWPvP would increase.

World PvP is inherently unfair. What you're talking about is progression. If you want gear, you do warzones. I'm talking about the joy of just doing it. Not what can be gained. Your mindset is precisely what is preventing world PvP, and I think it's what the majority of the playerbase thinks. Which is why there is so little of it nowadays.

There is NO JOY for an ungeared player...that's why OWPvP sucks (that and the engine). My mindset is based on fact - geezus man, just the other night a guildie of mine took on 8 Imps on Hoth who were all without gear...he had his on. Do you honestly think those 8 players had any "joy" in getting their butts handed to them by ONE mediocre player? There's so little OWPvP because the gear gap is MONSTROUS! 2.0 reset everyone to ZERO as well...most players are still trying to recoup from that.

I've noticed that town ganking/camping is pretty discouraged by Bioware, even on PvP servers. If you can even physically get to an enemy town in the first place, it takes a full group just to tank the guards. Seems a tad excessive.

But on the other hand, these new events (such as the tauntaun mount) have led to some wonderful organic world PvP on my server. So those are nice...but I do wish they allowed faction's paths to cross more during questing. I rarely see an enemy player when questing.
