I agree with the OP to an extent. They need to temper it more so that there is a combination of both. Right now it's too CC heavy and needs to add some more unique hard to achieve items.

How does Player A's character being decked out in CM gear keep you from "working" to "earn" your character's gear?

It doesn't. So you go grind for yours and let Player A buy his. "Problem" solved.

It must be very dark and musty in that cave you live in.

I don't play MMOs for sense of accomplishment. I have plenty of goals in the rest of my life.

When I look at someone in cool gear, I examine them to see what it is and how they've colored it. Then I make a note of it for potential use on a future character.

You need to work on your analogies.

No I just don't feel the need to parade around fleet thumbing my nose at everyone basically saying, "I'm better than you are. na nana nana na." My accomplishments are my own.

If the CCs leave you feeling like you don't achieve something, you should try the fight without CCing, they are optional.

Wait, what? Oooooo, Cartel Coins. Carry on.

I just giggle when people talk about how a "sense of achievment" is taken away. . . .

in a video game.

What happens when SWTOR's servers shut down? Do you fall into a deep depression because all of your "achievements" were wiped away? Games should be about enjoyment. Having a carrot on the stick is excellent to keep you enjoying and consuming -- but it is a tad scary when people start to blur the lines between real life achievments and a video game.

If it isn't blatantly obvious that nothing you do in this game makes you better than anyone else, or does anything to further your real life, it is time to step back for a moment and take a break.

When my time is so consumed by success and real world activity that all free-time evaporates, leaving me with zero opportunity to play any video game or MMO whatsoever...

...That, I will consider an Achievement. heh

This is part of the toxic viewpoint that helped the game fall flat on it's face in the first place....visual progression.

Cited as one of the top reasons folks were turned off by this game across the web (ranged from top five to top twenty depending on the list, sometimes listed as lack of character customization in gear), it is obvious to me that this was a serious design flaw that should have NEVER been part of the game.

Returning visual progression to this game would be returning to the failed aspects of the design that caused the game to tank in the first place IMO.

Just say no to visual progression as a game standard...it deserves a place among a diversified set of appearance options, including the CM.
