The only thing I would add is that dailies should have an impact on something.

For example: the more dailies that are done cause more vendors to be available or opens a section of the planet.

That way it feels like the dailies have an impact on the environment and not just static assignments.

I'd like to see something like this as well. Basically I'd like to see dailies unlock new areas of content, similar to dynamic events in other games. The unlocked areas could be harder; maybe some of them could even require a group and offer better rewards as a result. That could provide people an incentive to do dailies even after they no longer need the comms.

To me, what they are doing there is to undermine the Rakata, an alien race that they themselves came up with that already has an epic backstory thanks to the original KoToR games.
The Gree were created for the Star Wars expanded universe before the Rakata by several years.

The Gree first appeared in West End's "Star Wars Adventure Journal 8", published November, 1995. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gree_(species)

The Rakata first appeared in KotOR, released in July, 2003 -- over 7 1/2 years later.

You may not have been aware of the Gree, and that's fine, because they were pretty obscure. But frankly, I love the weird little cephalopods. I love the fact that SWtOR is mining some of the more obscure corners of the established Star Wars lore and tying it into the game. That's fantastic. And when I first saw the Gree referenced on Coruscant when the game launched, I was thrilled.

As for the Gree "taking over" -- they have a questline on Coruscant for one faction, a repeating Event, a warzone, and an Operation. The Rakata have a questline on Tatooine for both factions, an entire planet, a separate daily area (what do you think the Dread Masters were going for on Section X? Forgotten Rakatan technology), and an Operation. The Rakatan species may not be extinct, but their civilization is over and done with. The Gree civilization is still going, and will continue into the movie-era.

Not to say that I wouldn't mind more stuff with the Rakata, because I love them too. But to imply the Gree are brand-new is not true.

It's really very simple.

If you don't like dailies, don't do dailies.

The developers have tools that they use to watch what people do in the game. If they see a bunch of people doing dailies, they'll make more dailies. If they see dailies being ignored / unused, they'll find something else to create.

You can read the text on those terminals if you want but you won't be the wiser.
Just so that we're clear, you are aware that the Dread Masters are introduced in the imperial questline on Belsavis, correct? Every imp character should know about them if they've done the planetary quest. It makes sense that they would seem to come out of nowhere for the Republic because they don't know they've been freed until they start running amok.

The difference between WOW and SWTOR is that in SWTOR they're optional. In WOW they were pretty much obligatory to get your toon up to spec.

I think they're great in SWTOR in that they provide a means for gearing people who aren't necessarily part of an ops guild, or for alts, or creds or just a nice thing to do while you're gathering mats etc. They're a nice optional alternative.
Look into my eyes.

I never thought I''d see the day where people defended daily quests. I question whether it's a genuine like for the same task every day, or just general forum contrarianism.

It's the fact they are a reliable and substantial boost for money. I really don't care otherwise, but if I can get the boost to spend on my less capable alts? Sure, why not? It's not like there's any other way I'll be able to afford Nihilus's mask from the GTN, or be able to buy Cartel packs from the same.

Dailies give me power of credits that I wouldn't have otherwise. So yes. I am defending Dailies, since everyone else seems to think that they are somehow a total waste of time.

Why are you surprised? I rather do daily quests than run the fleet like an idiot, while waiting for a PVP/FP to pop up. It also provides us with easy to achieve, reliable (even if it is not the best) source of income in game.
