It just stopped being fun so I quit on that quest about halfway through. I'll wait until the level cap gets raised up again and finish it then probably.
What about grouping up?

As I said before, just do the easier dailes, get coms (basic and classic) for gear upgrades, then you'll be geared just fine. Heck even the rakata level mods from planetary coms is enough to get through it.

The Archon also has an instant death ray, and is the reason I still haven't finished him off. He'll hit my with rockets, stun me, as I'm getting up the laser will power up and I die trying to run away > : (

OP run it with a healing comp and focus spec. The more mobs the merrier.

The mission the OP is on is the 2nd to last one. You're really going to need the DPS for GF and there's a mechanic to it so you might want to read a guide if you don't want to wipe the first couple times. (Not looking forward to this fight on my Scoundrel healer).
Out of curiousity, what class were you? I keep hearing GF is harder for ranged classes than he is for melee.

Hm, I DEFINITELY found the Archon to be harder than Glittering Fury. I had a Dread Guard geared sniper for Archon, and I knew what you're supposed to do so I was fine, but it still took a while and did a lot of damage to me. I did GF with a Shadow wearing nothing above rakata level mods and he went down like a sack of potatoes without doing any damage to me, no strat, add killing or avoiding anything required. I hear GF is easier for melee, though.

There is something to avoid cos it one shots you I believe.

That's why I wiped one time on my JK wheras the Archon fight on my pyro was able to have coffee and biscuits while figuring the fight out.

There's a lazer that one shots you on the Archon too. I'm guessing we were both lucky in our first attempts on each opposite faction boss. I never even knew such a mechanic existed in the republic version, I just hit him till he died.

That was my experience with it too, my DPS Shadow wiped the floor with that droid.
I found the Archon to be a much tougher fight, but then again I also didn't look up any tactics for either of them - I prefer to try it on my own before resorting to guides.

I'm going to show my MMO ignorance big-time here but ... what's the reason for doing this? I don't get why they would do this unless it's just felt that this adds to the challenge. But then does that mean if they ever raise the level cap to, say, 65 or 70, skills are just going to that much further degraded?

Makeb is beautiful and has a great story, and I love the quick travel taxi.

Unfortunately playing it is a huge pain in the ***. I really don't know what Bioware was thinking.

  • Too many mobs, reg, strong and defiantly elites
  • Annoying and obnoxious mob attacks.
  • Ridiculously hard boss fights.
  • Hidden fall off points, everywhere

If you are doing Makeb I would recommend getting as high a level as you can first, and make sure that you and your comp are as geared us as you can be. My last time through I didn't start it until 55 and only after I had all the 53 elite gear on my self and my healer. It was still tedious but much easier.
