I went over this already. Tera and Rift. I'll give some more. Lotro, DCUO, Aion. All were pay to play, all went free.

But they aren't as good games as swtor is. Their f2p model is LEAGUES ahead of swtor's.

Go take a gander at the comment section of their f2p videos.

Those are unbiased opinions.

Those are unbiased opinions? How is that even possible. Some of the comments are so freaking rude, that I am not allowed to quote them here and that is what you call "unbiased" ?

better yet,

1. read though this

2. agree with the page

3. let this thread and discussion end, and make EA (this isn't biowear's fault for those of you who don't know) fix this by giving subs better reasons to be a sub so the preferred and FTP can play without restrictions while still motivated to be subbed.

Just because you don't enjoy the story, doesn't mean it isn't (one of the) the biggest part(s) of SWTOR
Storys fine, bit redundant if you play for pvp, but its a far cry from being bad.

Oh, whoops, and theres SWTORs ugly head rearing from behind the curtains already. F2P is basically unplayable as a "hardcore" player. 3 warzones a week? You can only chat in general every few seconds? Hell, i wasn't even able to sprint in my playthrough. Couple that along with nerfed xp gain, a paltry amount of sale slots and an ugly looking character.

Game can have a better story than game of thrones, doesn't matter if you've grinded twice as long and have an ugly gear set during it.

"Just spend the 15 bucks!" Why? I've seen a few mmos mentioned here that are better and are actually, truly, F2P and not some hook-line-sinker facade that EA threw up.

If the games are actually better, then you should play them and not pay your sucscription just to be able to write here.

Subscription does need to have a benefit over F2P players and to be honest, this "I want all of it and not pay a thing" attitude is getting rediculous. How many of those, who want F2P without restrictions are offering their workforce for free and tell their customers: "Pay, if you feel like it or if you want a little fancy goody, but the whole package is free".
Do you go to your car broker and ask for a car to be completely free, if you agree for it to not have air conditioning? Do you go shoppng and expect all clothes that are not of top class designers to be free for all? Do you expect a movie to be free and popcorn be optional and the theatres only way to actually get their bills paid?

Why in the heck do you then expect a multi-million dollar product to be fully available for free with no restrictions?

I quit around last year due to their awful CS. So when I came back at F2P I was shocked and livid...Ill get to that later though. I played this game since beta. I spent $85 on it upfront and did 4-5 months of subbing before i quit so a total of 180$ spent on this game. So while I wasn't playing anymore due to my problems I ran in with CS. I noticed, "SWTOR going F2P!" And I was like wow! really awesome! maybe now this game will have fixed all its problems added some new stuff and I can get back into it.

Ahaha no....I re install get on my smuggler (whos in full purple raid gear) and I noticed...where are my quick bars? why cant I hide my helmet? Why do I only have 4 character slots? what? I can only do a few warzone but I love PvP? I was just shocked keep in mind I spent over 180 dollars on this game prior. So this was a huge slap in the face to me a loyal customer who followed this game since 2009 and I cant even enjoy the game anymore. Even though it has that big Free To Play! sticker on it. Keep in mind I asked around in chat (the limited chat i could even say) And people had the nerve to tell me "you should be glad your even able to play this game in the first place" Once I told them that ive payed for this game a long with months of subbing (founder title) they shut the heck up.

So in all Why would Bioware/EA think its okay to do this to people who bought the game fair and square. I mean GW2, Tera, Rift, Never-winter, Aion, and many others don't do this. Ive loved Star-Wars since I was 5 years old which is why i put it above the others. I mean there isn't even atleast some cool thing they give to members who bought the game when it launched? Like "Alright since you bought our game which was 85 for the deluxe you can alteast have all your quickbars." Anyways rant over. Its late and i'm very tired so mind the grammar, but this is my fuss on SWTOR free to try model. Good Night.

Also (I pray every day that they will see the light and remove these restrictions to free to play members and make the cartel shop worth spending money on so that it gives and incentive for f2p players to buy from it, not just limit them till they just quit. But aleast keep some limits there like exp and small small things. But remove ALL limits for ppl who bought the game! ) and plz remove when you take out a dye it destroys I mean really? just let us take it out like a normal mod!

Indeed... However, some of the F2P restrictions are downright ridiculous. Like UI limitations, i.e. less quickslots. Only 2 (!) GTN slots. I'd rather have the game less F2P restrictions so people trying it out are not put off by SWTOR having much more restrictions than Rift etc. And in return, subscribers get more Perks, mostly quality of life stuff. I could think of things like account bank, Companion role change kits etc.

Less quickslots... something that can easily be fixed by buying anything for 5$... you do not even need to buy the quickslot unlock, you do get that as a side effect for going preferred. If anyone claims that the game is unplayable with 4 quickbars, I call them a liar. And if someone is not willing to spend 5$ in TOTAL on this game, then I call them greedy.

Less GTN slots.... is exactly a kind of QoL stuff, that subscribers got over F2P that does not hinder the gameplay in any kind of way.

Inability to hide helmet/wear title/show legacy... just fancy looks, nothing to hinder gameplay.

What you mention are quality of life restrictions. And as a subscriber I believe, that I deserve a better QoL in game than F2P players and even over preferred players.
It could be argued, that a preferred player, who spends more than 15$ worth of Cartel coins in a month automatically gets the added effect of becoming a subscriber for a month. That would be a resonable carrot for the F2P-crowd in my opinion.
Then the age old argument would be canceled that there are preferred players, who spend more money than subscribers do.

That's because like a few other people here, you made a big mistake. You thought this game went f2p. It hasn't.

When you played originally, you were subbed. Surprise surprise, if you sub, you will get all that stuff again. Why? Because that's how the game was set up and there still are subs. Again, this game didn't go f2p, it isn't f2p but it has an f2p option with a number of limitations.

But please people, just get this through your thick skulls, just because this game has f2p options, doesn't mean the game is f2p now. It still clearly supports subs and as such, you can never expect to get the same options as subbed people. That's about as simple as adding 1+1 .....
