I would allow Dual Spec only if the option to change specs is locked out after the Match has begun even if you get killed and have to respawn and still have it locked out until the match ends and you leave the area.
This is not a valid concern. Just deactivate the possibility as soon as you list for a warzone and as soon as you are in a fight. There problem solved.

Got enough of Vanguard/powertech/assasins/jugs/guardians/shadows that "best-put-myself-as-a-tank-even-if-I'm-dps-specced-cuz-gets-me-a-pug quicker."

Last thing we need is to give this terrible tool of destruction in the hands of clueless kids to mess up the already tragic situation of pugs. not to mention operation pugs.
Nice off topic class bash. Your comment about Sentinels/Marauders is completely irrelevant since all of their specs are DPS and in no way affect what role we can queue for.

Why go backwards?

I'm certain Blizzard had worse ideas than Dual Spec. Just off the top of my head I can think of... oh, I don't know... CATACLYSM.

Saved action bars would help too when you respec with the dual spec.

I would love that with or without dual spec. Field Respec should have 3 presets which also save UI configuration and gear. Then you could select a respec option and it will auto-load the skill tree, the action bars, and the appropriate gear.

My gut reaction to dual spec is just grind out the two toons the old fashioned way, this is bound to make you a better player if nothing else...but thats just my thinking, I'm all about having options to suit everyone's differing playstyles so I wouldn't oppose it with much conviction, if any, but I don't think it's overly needed. We have the upgraded field respec which kind of does the job and it takes what 60 secs to re do your bars/skills...

I just don't think it should be much of a priority given the existing systems are *almost* there now...they should just develop a quick and easy way to switch between two different UI configs because that would take no time/resource at all surely??

IDC which platform they use, as long as we get some way to save multiple skill tree, UI bars, and gear settings from one interface.

Right now respecing involves

Hitting the button
Going to my preferred site
Look up heal/dps spec
Slowly copy talent point allotments- checking back at need and accounting for gear
Hunt through my spellbook for the one ability I always loose
Shuffle some skills around

No quality of life is added via this process and I'm certainly not getting any better at either role for doing this the long way. A dual spec is raw and utter convenience. Part of why I can't be arsed doing daily quests is I'd rather not heal my minion through them but that minute or two of pointless busywork is just that, pointless.

What I do want is the ability to save multiple UI settings and buttons exactly as I want them.

I don't get why people keep asking for dual spec when they should just be asking for a button saving function.
I suspect asking for dual spec IS asking for it to save quickbar setup as well as point allocation and GUI setup.

So really IMO you want dual spec as well. Having a way to save a spec setup to make the changeover easy does not mean it has to effect spec change cost.
