I guess SWTOR having its own damage meter is one of those Bioware's perennial taboo subjects ... like ability delays and performance issues
The prodigal son has returned ... some people are stuck with SWTOR, for better or worse.

If TORParse has to shut down, it will be missed, but by no means is it BioWare's responsibility. And I don't care for the reasoning that they have a high number of users/unique visits and that mandates it being saved - because that worked out soooooo well for the US Government/Wall Street. "Too big to fail" is an asinine argument...

Also, trying to bully BioWare into doing it is going about it the wrong way. Why should they devote time/money/resources to something they weren't originally planning on and muddy up the project management waters already more than they already are. If they were going to do that, then I say they develop a true free-flying space game (PvE and PvP) to replace the POS on-rails useless mini-game they already have. This would add far more value to the game than an in-game parser but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it.

And lastly (and most importantly) a robust, involved community is far more valuable to them in the long run. As has been said, one goes down, another will take its place.

But hey, If you feel that strongly about it, start a Kickstarter campaign to save it or buy it. Put your money where your mouth (and keyboard) is.

Projects like MoX, TORParse, AskMrRobot, TORHead, SWTOR-Spy provide to the community functionality that should have already been provided by the company itself. We *do* need a web-based armoring, a searchable item database with all items available in the game, a list of all the abilities a Class / Advanced Class can acquire, a meaningful combat log parser. They are things that people in the community have proven that are doable with their limited resources and access to the game info, imagine how much easier it would for BW itself to provide such staff, if not already have them for internal use.
Quit bull********.
BW is so involved it's absurd. They made and update the game itself. If that doesn't count as involvement for you then you're off your rocker. There is absolutely no reason BW should devote resources to a third party tool. Would it be nice to have some parsing built into the UI? Of course. The more UI options the better, but to suggest that BW has some sort of obligation to take up Joe Schmoe's side project is just beyond reason.

Of course it is, I wasn't implying otherwise. However, if you want to come out with a strong opinion either way, maybe the subject should have some impact on you personally. There are people here arguing who have no idea what Torparse even does, yet they take a stance and muddy the waters with thier suppositions.

Of course then there's those handful of forum warriors feel a need to chime in on every. single. thread. whether it pertains to them or not.

Yep. And I can name them all

*business

and how is that a good business option for BioWare?!? Save a fan made addon which they gained nothing out of, invest money in that to save an addon?

TorParse isnt the only parser out there, my guild uses MOXparser and its really the same.

Good business would actually be if they did something to reward subscribers and non subscribers, because there is not much of a difference once a guy is 55... (Im a subscriber but I dont see much of a difference, both use Cartel Market and subs have to pay the same as the F2P players, no discounts for Subscribers..)

Or actually make new solid content, which I hope is going to be in the 2.4 patch, but only time will show

Less TOR and more general BioWare, but remember the Stanley Woo threads? Fun stuff
