I agree. One is going away soon enough when his sub is up...which, ironically, he's quitting his sub because he received a "warning" he felt was unfair

What free gifts?! The coins we received a few weeks ago were to show subscribers (something we pay to be) appreciation...right? What other "FREE GIFTS" were given away?
It's almost like an airline that gave a free 1,000 frequent flyer miles to anyone who flew with them this month... WHEEEEEEEEE!

thanks darth. i wasn't really trying to be cynical or sarcastic. i did not read the rules as finding them and reading them seems cumbersome. i assume you have, and i assume your correct, and i appreciate your help answering my question. it is easier for me to have you simplify things instead of looking them up myself

If every forum posted quit because of an "unfair" warning, no poster would still be a subscriber.

With that kind of reasoning, no kind of gift could ever be free, if it is given to subscribers only. And if given to everyone including non-subscribers, I would bet my account that some subscribers from this very thread would be the first to complain, that giving F2P the same as subs is a slap in the face for subscribers.

But actually that is exactly what Bioware did and what is now called "overhyping".

Not this again, hasn't it already been clearly established:

Sub = all the things you get per the TOS for paying

500CC on top of monthly stipend = gift to show appreciation for being a subscriber. Since no extra money was needed to get it, it was free in every sense of the word.

You may have not liked the gift (for whatever reason) and you may have handled your displeasure in a multitude of ways, but to claim it wasn't a free gift just because it was only given to subscribers is facetious and rather mean spirited. Because by that logic, nothing given to subscribers would have been a free gift regardless of what it was.

Well, they did just that yesterday with the CC code giveaway. "I" actually didn't like that because it could be claimed by people not even playing.

I didn't mind the 500CC, but I can acknowledge that it was a very weak and lazy idea.

As I said, I have no problem with the 500CC "gift", other than it showed (imo) how little effort they feel subs are worth. I would have preferred a "pick a gift" option.

So, my advice is to remain silent and just give them whatever it is you were going to give them when the time is right. Cause believe me, some folks are just never happy no matter what you give them.

INB4: "that's your opinion"

Well i would be happy if they realize that this is a game. And that they make the people happy if they add little quests and events that make the people actually play the game.
I wrote it about 10 times today but noone is picking it up so i guess i can't be that wrong if noone jumps at me and says i am a bioware hater and cry about everything.
I am completely against free stuff or anything that can only be bought via cartel market as reward of a celebration or event. In terms of appriciations like the subscriber appriciation QoL stuff would be perfect but later more.
If people should feel satisfied they need to spent time in the game and in case of this game they need story. It is the most asked, most demanded thing in the whole forum. If you want you can add some sort of reward but in my opinion that is not really necessary.
I've yet to meet the one person that says i prefer more fluff or cc over actual story content. And i can only repeat it in a few months you have 7 years of experience on working with your engine and the backend tools. You have a huge amount of models and textures and prefabs. Don't tell me that it is that hard to use that as a stable base for content on the well known planets. It would be unbelievable there was no real team for stuff like that at all. Those people could work all year.
However on the subject of subscriber appriciation it would have been the perfect thing to add more QoL features that differentiate the subscribers more from the f2p crowed. There is nothign wrong with this if it is usefull and makes life easier. The advantage is that the subscription model becomes more appealing to the f2p players and i hope that your first goal is still to have as many subscribers as possible.
Think about legacy bank for example.
What does it have to do with this thread? Well keeping silence won't be the solution as some people alrady mentioned. The only solution would be to actually think about where the developers are coming from and as what they designed the game. A story driven MMO.

So I read the whole thread and counted exactly 3 posts which discussed the topic , well TUX asked what free gift the OP was talking about and that was post 59.

So all this over the 500 CC free gift to subbs ? Just because lower than 5% of subbs complained about a patch. this whole thing is really getting on my nerves. It was a gift , it was free and TBH I really wished they hadn't given it now.

Free gift , as someone else pointed out , you say thank you and move on.

Cheers,

BadOrb.
