I'll stick with the latter, thank you. You can keep all the ape-armed, glove-fingered neanderthals to yourself, or zoom in on their low-res blocky faces and see them beautifully at 60 FPS
Aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder. Agreed though, never cared for WoW's humans.
"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more...than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so *********** what." - Stephen Fry

Anyone going to point out that SWTOR not only looks better than WOW but also has way better animations and visual effects? Yeah, sure, sure... pixels are great, but I can't stand to look at the 2D graphical effects from WOW.

The Bounty Hunter's level 1 out of combat self heal looks better than any attack, ability or animation in WOW.

I'd love to see a side by side video comparison of these two games.

WoW on a PC from Walmart and TOR on a 5Ghz, 32GB of ram quad Titan PC lol Betcha WoW would load faster

i got 680 sli i73770k and 16 gb ram and ssd

normaly i got 110+ fps but at fleet at pvp area i can drop to 30 fps
samme with 16 man raids i can drop down to 30-35 fps inn big fights
and if you do open world pvp 20 vs 20 my fps drops to 20 fps....

and i only got this problem inn swtor.
and turning of sli makes no dif
this is why there is no world pvp the engine cant handle 40 vs 40... or even less..

but stil love the game. but i wish they fixed or changed the engine

thats normal when you dont have the same amount of pixels the load, swtor grapics are better sharper etc wich translates to longer loadtimes cause it got more 2 load. ( im under a min loading time ) if it takes 20 sec to load longer but grapics are superior then im happy to wait 20 secs longer.

And 10 yrs back the top end machines are worse then your wallmart machine now do it with a machine thats 10 yrs old then see how fast wow would load

That was what some people would call a joke.

So if I would say "A Jawa, Tusken raider and a Hutt walk into a bar" would you write 2 paragraphs explaining why a Tusken raider would never go to a bar?

^^That was a joke too :P

WOW's engine is over 10 years old. They have had a long time to optimize it. That said even wow still occasionally runs into performance issues when ati and nvidia update their drivers and new hardware is introduced.

Load times are caused by system lag when new texture files are loaded into your graphics card's memory off the hard drive. SWTOR's texture files are huge. The bigger your GPU's Ram is, the more textures it can hold but that also means it takes longer for those textures to be read off your hard drive and loaded into the card's memory. So if you have a GPU with big RAM but have a slow Hard Drive that will cause major load delay.

If you have a mid to top tier GPU and you see excessively long load times, check the speed of your hard drive. That is probably what is causing it.

Makeb already marks a line as it is the only planet i can't play on max. settings.
They are improving the engine. Performance is way up since 1.4, more so since launch.

This game didn't even have antialiasing at launch. I'm pretty sure their software team is keeping busy.

Comparing WoW to any other MMO is just silly.

There is only one reason why WoW "destroys" other MMO's, and that is the simple fact that it has had millions of subscribers for many, many years and is still around the 8 million sub mark which gives it a huge supply of cash every month that can be used by a large group of support employees to improve the game and add content.

Any game that garners the kind of sub numbers that WoW has had can be as competitive as WoW. The problem is that the current crop of gamers expects everything to be perfect right out of the gate and are so fickle that they aren't willing to let game companies take the time to build an MMO. It's why development costs for MMO start-ups are so high and why game developers are loath to step away from the WoW model...the risk is high and the reward may not be there.
