Graphics in this game...

Down right sucks in comparison. One I don't see on the list if Rift. I've been playing that a little over a year now and got this. I use eyefinity and maxed out all settings. The shadowing is years behind. The engine I have to admit looks simalar to Star Trek Online.

For the guy that mentioned FF14's copy/paste of terrain, yeah they did.. and? It still had better graphics, that was just lazy map design.

And no I never said I expect these games to be as amazing in graphics as single player experiences/other games.. that's why I compared it to other MMOs.

Point being is, unless they unlock the actual high resolution textures and more graphic tweaking options, we are going to have to deal with a medium graphics game. Those 3 pictures that one guy posted, thats great... but it shows no real detail in anything.

the big problem is the character models , they look terribly I have everything to max , i can easily run games like Deus ex at full so i know its not my rig , is there anything i can do in Nividi to make it look better , I am noob when it comes to stuff like that .

The graphics are stunning on my rig, all maxed out with forced AA. Best I've seen in an MMO, and so atmospheric. The only thing that ticks me off are the occasional low textures on armor for example.

Edied the First 2 SWTOR pics to the ones the other guy posted since those were slightly better, and fixed the FFXI one.. still the comparisons are there for everyone to see.

I enjoy the graphics. Some of the textures are fuzzy and could be higher res. My framerate isnt as high as it should be especially when forcing AA. My biggest gripe is all the clipping...really ruins the experience for me.

The graphics could certainly be better in terms of texture quality. In my opinion, they are ridiculous when you consider LOTR was released in 2007 and provided an option to install HD textures which made the detailing on armour and such look stunning.

However, I believe the statement that we should expect more from a game with their budget is too simplistic. Two things to consider:
* The full voice acting and development of cut scenes would have taken a massive amount of their resources (both budget and dev time).
* The graphics of character's are highly flexible with fantastic range of facial expressions. It is a world of difference from painting a fantastic looking mask for a face that will never change.

I think it had alot less to do with the things you mentioned. MMO graphics are largely hindered by the average computeing process of the average gamer. So target audiences have to be considered and such.

You're TOR screenies seem to be low-res. Mine looks a TON better than that. I'll get some screenies up.

Aside from that, it looks to be about on par with the graphics capabilities of other 2011-2012 MMOs.

I still think people are confusing art style for graphics. They are NOT the same thing...

I honestly think some aspects of this game have some of the best graphics I've ever seen in MMOs.
Whilst some things do fall short.

But playing through space missions, i just tend to admire the planets, asteroids and black holes.
