Of note, the most valued items (the stuff most want) is crafted with material that cannot be farmed or gathered; that cost real time in mission skills or dropped from raid encounters.

this post is so awkward

we list items at the prices we want. if we want to sell quickly then we give up value to sell it. get over it. this isnt a business, this is a video game.

oh and in real life, id tell you to get over it too.

You can continue to whine.... IDGAF.
I got mine so who cares what happens to anyone else?

I get it. I've accepted existence of people like that. after all people like that is why we are in our current "meat space" economy situation in a first place. free market taking to its extreme where almost no one wins. not even you.

I'm not trying to advocate price fixing. I'm not even trying to tell you how to live your life and how to play your game. I'm merely illustrating consequences of your actions. not even for you. just... in general for whoever IS willing to listen.

and btw? what I do for a living (though not much of one lately - see my "whine" as you like to call it) is great fun for me. i love it. pretty sure most if not all creative professionals do. even when you are frustrated with project not going well, in the end - its fun, and you love it, or you wouldn't keep doing it.

but fun doesn't mean it's worthless. fun doesn't mean it has no value. fun doesn't render it free. I will never understand this belief some people have that it only counts as a proper job deserving compensation if you hated doing it and/or if it fits some arbitrary standard of what "real job" is.

I have pretty much given up on GTN nowadays. I might use it to clear out overabundance of materials where the cost to sell it is at least double of what I'd get from the vendor. sometimes I browse it for sellers who for whatever reason list their items below vendor sale price in their rush to undercut - and I buy those up and sell them to the vendor myself. but for the most part - its now a source of dirt cheap cartel moddable gear.
oh well....

To be honest I've never had any issues at all with GTN pricing in this game, where quite often in WoW I thought the prices were completely insane, not to mention more of a lottery with the way epic BIS BoE's were found and sold there.

The point you (and others who complain about such things) miss entirely is that there is a difference between real life and pixels inside of a game that have no bearing on the former.

We don't put up with price-fixing cartels in real life. They are illegal. Why should we welcome them in a computer game?

Once again, I have no sympathy for this position. It is ludicrous.

Because it's a game.

Neither do I, because it's a game.

its a game that's played by real people who bring their real life attitudes into it. everything I've heard in this thread, I have heard in "meat space" as it applies to "real life"

the main difference is that I'm not nearly as bothered by this in a video game (because hey - dailies, there's always a guaranteed source of income no matter what, so losing GTN and crafting as source of income is not a big deal) that said - virtual communities still often mirror physical ones. to the point of scientists using them for simulations.

and thing is - I don't mind at all when prices drop organically, because supply increased, while demand decreases and if I miss that short window of maximum profit? oh well.. but people who deliberately ruin it for everyone else, for the lols? that attitude doesn't exist in a vacuum.
