allow me to introduce you to the concept of opportunity cost.

so you gathered those materials, yes? you now have them in your inventory. had you sold them as is? you would have gotten quite a nice chunk of profit. but you chose to treat them as inconsequential and not only lost personal profit, but you also made it harder for everyone else to make profit. you essentially lost credits because you ignored the opportunity you had to make those credits.

but its a video game. a hobby. a passtime. it doesn't matter, yes?

except the reason why these attitudes are something that I wish i could train people out of are not fictional profits in a fictional environment. they translate right into real world and make it harder to near impossible for entrepreneurs, especially creative craftspeople to make a living of their ability. because apparently - if your time is not spent in a "real" office with punch in clock and w-2 forms created for you by accounting department - the time doesn't count yes? but unlike videogame - having a day job to supplement all that "free" time you don't think is worth anything - takes longer than dailies, and is not guaranteed like dailies are. (and often pays much less)

so whenever I see things sold cheaply by someone like you on the GTN I both rejoys because hey, fewer dailies for me to do, and sigh because, well that means i have to do dailies in a first place, instead of making steady income off my crewskills etc. and try not to cry when I'm reminded how its translated into real life.

By the way.. WoW is a bad reference example.. because the AH is dominated by addons that tend to dampen out price variations. Lazy people just check the addon to see what "the price is"...both buyers and sellers. No such dampening devices exsist in this MMO. You have to actually work the market.

Get over it. List later, or buyout the discounts.
^This!

Also, some people just like to make the items and recoup their loses and make more, just to spread the love around Some will even purposely lose some money on the deal, just to mess with people who think they can set the price.
"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more...than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so *********** what." - Stephen Fry

You are a moron, because you fail one important thing : That it is fun for me to craft.

Even worse : I never had the intention to make money. Okay, once in the very first 3 days of the new COlouring Modules arriving - but even then I made more than enough money by selling things for cheap.

I craft because it is fun for me. It is as simple as that - and now you will report me for being a Troll because in your mind set you are not able to believe me.

Yep this is so annoying. Usually, a stack of 99 Primordial Artifact Fragment will net me between 150k and 200k. But the last couple weeks, after me and others have stacks listed in that range, all of a sudden a couple of people come in and put their stacks at 110k or less! And then others follow suit until all stacks are gone and I have to repost them. Do some people just despise making money?

Mmm...

GTN pricing like all the other MMORPGs who has similar functionality has always suffered from the player controlled pricing system, such as complaints made by this thread.

I will acknowledge that some players do grossly over-price items, while others do severely price them, part of the problem is there is no guide to benchmark prices against, its all in the court of personal opinion.

For myself, I keep it simple, I sell my drops at 50% mark-up from GTN suggested prices. As a result I may be guilty of severely under-cutting somebody, perhaps the item I am selling was actually quite a rare drop and should had sold for much more. On the other hand, all I am doing is trying to get a little more credits from emptying my bags at the normal vendor and don't really care to invest the time in colelcting sell trends and what not, frankly I don't care for spending my time as such.

Perhaps the GTN GUI could be a bit more informative, and while giving you the vendor value of the item you are planning to sell, perhaps also provide you with the top/low/average offered prices, so you can more fairly price your item, but till then its 50% over vendor price.

Hugs

Sue

And we are supposed to care ... because? Why? It's a game - get over it pal. No one cares about you and your buddies wanting to play psuedo-stock brokers in a game. No one but yourselves care how many credits you have. This is a themepark - the primary objective is to play and enjoy the missions and storyline. What you want to do in your spare time is irrelevant to most of the gaming population nowadays. The era of the catasser is over. The age of UO and PKing has ended. Times have changed - no one cares about epeen anymore, or nonessential side functions in a game.

So your little would-be cartel is running into difficulties with its price-fixing, and I'm supposed to be sympathetic?

Ha! Hilarious. Just be thankful that unlike real countries, SWTOR has no competition laws. 200 million credit fines would certainly send them scurrying to the forum to whine.

You have to repost yours? How do you deal with that? It must be awful.

Hoping you're joking.

Exactly so. Playing the GTN is a mini-game. If someone finds it fun, they should do it. If they become obsessive over it, they should probably get outside more often.

Let me introduce you to the concept of IDGAF. IDGAF about your "profits". IDGAF about a stable market. I'll post what I feel like selling for prices I feel like getting and if they don't sell twice I'll vendor them. IDGAF how much I could have made if I priced my items to your dorky standards.

You can continue to whine.... IDGAF.
