Cartel Market Idea: Instant Level Cap Granted

It's a good idea. Other games have offered this before, where you can create a toon at 80% of the level cap after you have leveled one the old fashioned way. It's even been given for free, but of course that was long before the rise of the omnipresent cash shop business model.

They likely would make it only boost you to level 48 or 50, not to the actual level cap. So you still have a bit of work to do to cap out, and of course you still need to run all of your class stories to get companions unlocked, and then there is the gear grind as well.

It also probably would require a legacy a little higher than 2. Legacy 10 might be reasonable, or maybe 20 at the most. If Bioware actually did this, they would probably follow the "Treek Model" and make it a 5 million credit unlock if you have reached Legacy 20, or an unlock you could buy at any legacy level using CC, so long as you have at least one character of max level in any class.

The legacy XP character perks are also an awesome idea. Even if they only went as high as 200% they would be huge money makers, and welcome relief for those who just can't stand the thought of doing those damn dreary planets even one more time.

If this was available, I have at least two toons currently languishing in the mid-twenties that I would buy either the level boost or a 200% or better character XP perk for immediately.

They could offer it at 10,000,000 credits in game, requiring Legacy Level 50; or
You can buy it on the Cartel Market with no Legacy requirements.

/sarcasm off

The problem you will get will be what happened with eBay WOW characters - max level toons with a player who has absolutely no idea of the class mechanics.

This provides a simple alternative for people who might like to try a different AC for their character. So, if I have a Sniper already and want to try OP, I could just roll an OP and grant it 50 levels. Or maybe I want to change up from Guardian to Sentinel. Just park my guardian and roll a sent. BAM. Now I can go give it a shot without having to waste time leveling another one. Of the 8 classes (16 ACs) available in the game, this would not be a game breaker, but might actually inspire others to step outside of their comfort zones and give another Class or AC a try.
I'd love and would pay CC to beable to replay Class stories for a couple of classes, one being my Agent.
"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more...than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so *********** what." - Stephen Fry

[Character Level Advancement]
Bound

Cartel Market Item - 10,000CC
Use of this item instantly increases current character level to maximum.
*Requires Legacy Level 2 or higher
90 or 180 Day Cooldown (unsure)

This way, if you are in a rush, you can hit the iWin button, get to level cap, go get your gear from the GTN, and go do what you want to do and leave the questing and side missions to those of us who enjoy them.

OR:

Another idea is an XP Slider. You still start at level 1, and have to level manually, but, on your slider, you can pay to unlock 150%, 200%, 250%, 500%, 1000% XP. That would make XP specific to the character, and not the game. The unlocks could be based on Legacy levels. So, as a for instance:

Legacy Level 3: 150% Unlock - 40k or 200cc
Legacy Level 6: 200% Unlock - 80k or 400cc
Legacy Level 9: 250% Unlock - 160k or 800cc
Legacy Level 12: 500% Unlock - 320k or 1600cc
Legacy Level 15: 1000% Unlock - 500k or 2000cc

This way, you could move your own character slider to the level of XP boost you want and NO ONE ELSE will ever be affected by how fast you are leveling. The only way to level faster is to level your legacy. So everything is manual and everyone wins

Either way, you still have to play your class quests to get your companions, so even at lvl 55, you would still have to go back and at least do class questing which would get you familiar with your abilities.

If you think the backslash from Treek was big, just try adding a feature like this and see what happens. Bioware is desperate but I don't think they're that desperate yet. If they ever give something like this to us that would be tantamount to saying "we've given up on subs entirely and the game is going pay-2-win". Just watch the drop in subs if this is ever implemented.

Like I said in the other thread, leveling is there to teach you how to play your class. You'd be useless with an instant 55 character because you'd have no gear and no idea how to play that class, therefore just a burden on whoever you're teaming up with for flashpoints, operations and pvp.

Selling neat gear packs on the CM to help insta-55 characters is just one small step away from this. Also, I don't understand what your personal interest is in this. You've repeatedly said that your tight schedule prevents you from engaging in any type of endgame content (dailies, flashpoints, ops, pvp). Why pay for something that you will never end up using or is it your intention to drive subscribers away and see the game go full P2W and fail?

Will you please stop with the damn name calling? I don't care if you don't like PvE or the players who do PvE but seriously stop derailing the thread by calling people out, calling them carebears or drones. You like the suggestion that's great support it but leave it at that.

I made a follow-up to these posts a few days later. You can read it here.

I'll still be using the terms "carebear" and "Biodrone", but only when I see it's necessary and when I see fit. I'm just sick of most of the players saying stuff like "this is a PvE centered game with PvP just being a mini-game", and stuff related to that. The bashing towards PvP does need to stop by those that are focused on mainly PvE'ing. It's just real annoying that most of the PvE'ers on these forums cannot say anything about PvP'ers and the play style without first bashing them both critically.

The PvP'ers just want more attention from EAware, because truth be told, we've been getting shafted more and more since the release of 2.0. We really deserve a lot of what we've been asking from them since RotHC was launched.

What PvP patch? The only PvP content I know of is coming in 2.4 in late September or early October. Did I miss the memo somewhere?
