Whatever. Bioware is who needs to be convinced of the change, not you.

A very ignorant way of putting it.

Even if BioWare put a name purging system in place, and someone happened to grab the name I wanted before me, I'd be fine with it. I'd just try to grab it first, and if I lose I lose. It'd just be nice knowing the name I'd prefer for my character was on an active toon, no matter who that may be.

Someone who has a name and hasn't played in months (or even more than a year) shouldn't have a name if they most likely aren't playing anymore. Give the name to someone who currently supports the game.

How do you know if that person hasn't played in months? How do you know that person isn't paying a sub? You DON'T. You just see someone else with something that you want, and are trying to find a way to justify trying to take it.

Now that is an ignorant way of putting it..

Any kind of a name purge would be piss poor customer service.. Bioware would lose customers if they went the route you are advocating..

There is no reason to penalize someone for taking a step away from the game due to life.. Active or inactive is irrelevant.. Your name is lost.. Make up a new name.. There is no justification in taking a name from someone else to give to you.. No matter how attempt to dress it.. It is morally and ethically wrong.. I am sure Bioware knows not to listen to this thread..

You are going to lose this one.. I am sure Bioware knows what you are asking is wrong.. Otherwise they would have allowed it a long time ago..

Again, it is very poor customer service to take a name due to inactivity.. What if it was your name that was lost why you served in the military?? What if it was your name that was lost while you were in the hospital?? Or some other life issue?? What you are asking is just not right and not for you to decide.. Just saying..

There is plenty of flexibility in naming in this game, so there are still plenty of names. It would be nice if it was as flexible as GW2, but it's not.. so we have what we have. Work with it IMO.
^^

2nd post in this thread and it still rings true..

Absolutely not. A friend of mine, due to real life, serious health problems and serious health problems in their family, to top that off she needs to work even with some health problems still lingering, to come back to her favorite game to see her character name that she adores and cherishes be taken by someone else ... Sickening. This is just one person.

Name purges are not needed, but neither is hyperbole needed to argue against it.

LOL how would they lose customers? Most of these "customers" are most likely already lost because they don't play the game.

A lot of MMOs do this. BW just handled names very poorly due to rookie management back after launch, making a ton of new servers, only to consolidate them all... TWICE. Now server transfers are back.

If BioWare started name purges, I know a lot of currently subscribed and active players would support it. They'd have a chance at least of getting one of their cherished names back.
