SANDBOX Features!

Examples:

Storyteller NPCs = Allow us to buy items we can place in the open world, like static vehicles, NPCs to fight, Buildings, special effects... speeder "check points" so we can build temporary race tracts... dueling arena's or pits with dangerous environmental items inside so we can host our own gladiatorial combat... the possibilities here, are endless.

Player Housing, Player Cities, and Player Capital Ships = the possibilities with this are endless. Allow us to build our own houses / cities within instanced version of the planets. Example... I go to Coruscant, I travel to a "instance taxi" and from there I jump into my house, city, etc. Instanced housing could be great for placing all sorts of things, decorations, hosting guild events, and so on.

Player Vendors: Allow players to place, in their own house, city, space station, a Player Vendor, where they this could act like a Guild Bank/GTN terminal all in one.

Interactive Environments: I know I would love to get a bunch of Jedi, go into our own instance of the Jedi Council Chambers on Tython, and RP a Council Meeting... especially if we can SIT IN CHAIRS!

Allowing the players to create content, generate their own place in the galaxy that feels like it is "theirs" will go a long way to keeping many players here, playing, and coming back for more.

Plus... you can put most of this stuff on the Cartel Market and make a fortune from it.
I would love to see this...but it seems no company has the to make SWG2.

That's not my intention. I only posted that to counter the "so basically you want SWG" comment.

The inference was negative, and I am contending that it may not be as negative as some folks might think.

You are certainly welcome to dislike SWG or housing, but why not simply say "I didn't like SWG" instead of telling someone else what they want? Doesn't stating what you want make more sense?

I just finished reading through this tread and what struck is the either / or attitude.
In the ship there is actual seatable chairs, you can sit down in the captain's chair as well the "crew" chairs.
I doubt that making canteena chairs sitable will any negative effects on the game.
I do however agree to not facilitating player creation in any of the game's instances, but I am an advocate for making the environment a little more interactive

You must fear the chair! Don't you see what it has done to the human world?
If chairs are made sitable (or sithable lol ) everyone in the Republic and the Empire will just sit (or sith ) in the cantina watching jawa throwing at the 220" 16xHD holograph and The Cartel will take over the Galaxy
Jadele, Battlemaster, jedi sentinel lvl 65
Andrliel, The hidden jedi, jedi shadow lvl 65
Sazill, Master of Lightning, sith sorcerer lv 65
Sidiani, The Destroyer, sith warrior lv 65

swg emu is that way, way to list 4 things that are literally, directly ripped from swg, please come up with original idea's

this is a themepark mmo, not a sandbox mmo. Go be king of the trackstars and stay off the forums

this is the wrong type of game to implement those features into tho, the only thing that is a decent request is sitting in chairs, making entire cities wouldn't work, player housing would most likely have to be done in an instanced off way (hero engine garbage) and storyteller vendors, they were strange in swg, the fact that they worked was because the game was 100% community content driven besides their ****** instances. The game was designed to allow you to have that kind of freedom, this game is designed around you experiencing their story, far too structured for the likes of housing, storyteller vendors, and player cities.

The closest thing we will ever get to housing, is customizing ships more, and imho, for this game, (and this ****** engine) that's as close as it should come

While I think this is stated FAR too harshly, it is nonetheless accurate. They will not add these features in the near or medium term.

All these "no you just want SWG, it failed blah blah" comments are nonsense. I never played SWG, but if did somethings right (like sandbox features), I see absolutely no reason why TOR shouldn't take from that.

It's been sated many times that asking for features such as housing will not work here. The simple reason is because the engine can't handle it and the game is designed as a thempark therefore in order for housing to work a complete remodeling of the game from the ground up would have to happen.

So the likelihood of this happening is extremely low. The best and closest thing to housing we will get is ships.

All of these things are great ideas that should've been in the game from day 1. Unfortunately, the people who made this game are complete ****tards that thought star wars fans would be happy with going backward in time to Wow's beginning and not even incorporating any of the things that SWG made standard even before that.

What morons. I can't believe I'm still giving them money. Please someone make a better star wars game. It's really not that hard.
