Next species up for a community vote?

I thought they had said the next race is Voss. Given that they have said races need to be human with some colouring I don't see Gungan, also aren't Gungans still stuck on Naboo at this point.

Personally I hope for Selkath, Selonians and Gen'dai. It's not likely to happen but I hope.

Don't underestimate the power of lekkus. Lekku species that are Twi'leks and Togrutas have always been popular.
I don't know why. Maybe people see in lekkus something sexually attractive... just a thought.

More seriously, I believe that's just because they have a perfectly human face, and yet something (lekkus or lekkus+montrals) that make them not look like human at all. Unhuman skin color do not seem a main criteria (or "not sufficient criteria") to people, when looking at how "recolored humans" (mirialans, chiss) do not get the same love. Species that have a "disformed face" comparing to human tend to get behind (Nautolans, Pureblood Siths, Kel Dors, Niktos, Duros, Weeqways, Devaronians...)

That's why I believe devs when they said that the species must be human enough so that players can relate to them, because even if there are people who'll like the most alien-like species, or people who want some species just for the fun (jawas, Ughnauts - I dare people to say these are not "for the lulz"), what comes from people seems to say otherwise.

Honestly, I want to see the Voss. Loved that planet, and that race. Easilly can be on both sides. Speak Basic, just need a filter on the voice. However, that may be why we won't get the Voss. But I still want to be one.

Sometimes when I see the cry outs for Togruta as playable, I wonder how many just want to be an Ahsoka clone

I personally would love to see Jawa as playable but know they won't do it due to size and lack of basic speech, so my vote would be Voss.

I'll never understand how people can ridicule the Cathar for being 'humans with face paint' and then turn around and demand the Voss. Looking past the fact that it'd make absolutely no sense lore-wise to play as Voss, I just don't see the appeal. Until they're once again willing to consider beast species the community is going to remain largely unhappy on this subject. Especially when they realize the clipping issues on the Torgruta they've been waiting years for is worse than it is on the Twi'leks.

I read a short story in a fanfiction magazine a few years back, that named Yoda's race as the Peleine. I know fanfiction hardly makes it canon, but I've read a great many magazines and novels, and it's the ONLY claim I've found. Since the host magazine is one I found reputable (I'll leave it unnamed, but it tied in with the dice and paper rpg), and they let the name go through to publication, and it's the ONLY mention, non canon or otherwise I've found, then by default, I also use the name "Peleine" in RP situations to refer to Yoda and Yaddles race.

I'm pretty sure that 2 of the 3 species they said they are looking at would be Togruta and Nautolan. The third could be a number of things, maybe Kel'dor, though I can see issues with them and their mouth covering and less customization options, not to mention the lack of any female models in the game as far as I'm aware. In fact, I have never even seen one anywhere. Lack of customization is also a problem with Voss, unless they decide to completely re-imagine the species, which they can do, since Bioware created them.

I think Devaronians would be fun to have as playable species, though they would have to create the female model, which don't look much like the males.

My vote goes for:

Twi'lek whose lekku doesn't clip horribly.
Twi'lek who can wear hoods.
Pureblood Sith whose spikes don't clip horribly.
Cyborgs who have cybernetics that are more than just bits of costume jewellery pasted to their faces.

If the next species isn't Togruta, I as a twilek will riot along with other twilek!!
