Well, that answers that. Looks like it was intended.

I think they should seriously consider changing this to help open up more opportunities for ranked, and also, it's simply a bit unfair when you know that operation passes have no limits. Of course, we still don't know what exactly their plan is for 2.4 that will supposedly alleviate queue times. I recall them saying they may consider removing pvp restrictions for free players in the past, but no update on that.

I'd assume it's more likely that Bioware just didn't care about ranked WZ so that they forgot to put this in as opposed to any malice, because otherwise that'd be false advertising. The weekly pass even says you have full access to WZs. It didn't say 'full access to regular WZs only'.
^ This. It has nothing to do with player being a sub o not. It's not a question wither the pass should or should not include access to RWZ, its the fact that the pass does not clearly state that access to RWZ is not included in the pass. Considering that the pass says unlimited access to WZs for a week, that should include RWZs right? If it says unlimited access to FPs, wouldn't that include the 55 HM FPs, unless clearly stated that they are not for example?

Its obviously an oversight. Or is it

If I had to hazard a guess as to why ranked WZ's aren't included in the F2P and Preferred models, it would be because of the transient nature of F2P and Preferred players and the reasoning behind the existence of ranked PvP.

Operations are different simply because they aren't a ranked competition. If F2P Bob can't buy an Op's pass for the week, his Op's team can easily sub for him. But ranked WZ teams are a bit pickier about pug's as a loss can cost ranking. An Op's pug that fails only cost's credits, which are easy to come by. Not so for ranks.

I'm not saying it's a good reason, just that there is a marked difference between Op's and Ranked WZ's. Ranked WZ's require a level of dedication that probably isn't there for non-subs. And to be honest, the only difference between regular WZ's and ranked WZ's is the rank so it isn't like you are missing out on anything.

I saw the F2P page and I guess that explains it, but I think it still has to be an oversight. We're not talking the fine print here. There is no way you can look at the WZ pass that they clearly want you to buy and figure out 'preferred/f2p still can't do ranked WZ with a pass.' There is just no information available at all that'd possibly tell you this based on the game itself. If this is intended then it's blatant false advertisement, and that makes no sense since we probably have all 5 people that ever attempted such a thing on this thread so it's not like Bioware stands to make mega money from the thousands of people who bought a pass thinking they can do ranked WZ.

The only explanation I can think of is that ranked WZ is just so rarely done that Bioware didn't even think people would be concerned over this issue.

The weekly pass does not say: "Allows access to WZ but not RWZ." It says "Allows unlimited access to WZ". The intention of Bioware is completely irrelevent here, because there's no way anyone can possibly get 'only regular WZ' from an item that claims to give 'unlimited access'. That's blatant false advertising and there isn't even a fine print to save them there.

actualy.

there is.

go to the f2p FAQ page, it was even linked earlier in this thread.

they specifically state that ranked warzones are not available to anyone but subscribers.

now, mind you, I think this is not a good OR fair choice on their part, and if operations/flashpoint access is fully unlocked through their respective passes, so should be warzones. but... regretfully - this is not a false advertising its working as intended and as advertized :/

and I saw that you have seen that page already.

so.. my guess is - this is their way to balance the fact that even with flashpoint/operations full access, you still cannot trade with other players as f2p/preferred account? :/
only thing I could think of, to be honest.

.. and the worst part is that Bioware did not even care mention this in the description of the item. Don't you think that's kind of ridiculous?

PVE: players can do all content if they buy the Weekly Pass.
PVP: players can NOT even buy any unlucks for Ranked Warzones -> u have to be a sub.
Don't worry, Ranked Warzones aren't everything either. It's still mostly staged games between teams of people that know eachother, since there's too few teams to actually give a sense of competition.
