can you tell us what you will be doing to compensate us for the broken content?

The lore in the datacube is fluff. Demonstrate to me that it is not, and that it is integral to the core of the game as we have come to know it over the last 16 months. I'll wait.

It's a circular argument as to if the larger base of lore means anything in the context of the game or not. Some people say it does and live by it.. others could really care less.. other then the broad range lore of it being Star Wars. So clearly the game can be played and enjoyed without paying attention to the timeline specific lore if that is what a player chooses to do. Evidence cutscene spacebar skippers... which are plentiful in the game.

They are fragments at best... with no connectivity... ie: fluffy little fragments in a cutscene.
By that definition all side quests are fluff.

Heard it here first...we're going to start having to pay for all sidequests.

Oh, those FP's are just fluff too, since they're not class story specific! So, yes, those brand new FPs that are coming, pay extra for!

They are not.. because side missions provide progression paths in the game in the form of rewards, credits, XP, etc.(whether you pay any attention to the lore within the cutscenes or not).

Frankly many people (self proclaimed in the forums here) skip the cutscenes of sidequests precisely because they see no value in them.

Dully noted... and nonsensical.

This insane insistence of comparing the silly little cutscenes in data cubes with actual mission content used to progress through the game is silly sauce.

Not that silly sauce is rare or in short supply in the forums though. It just comes in different flavors with each new patch as people gerbil jump anything that shows up in the CM... I guess just because they can.

Lore IS Fluff... as I stated. And I exemplified how it is just as "fluffy" as the CM armor skins.
the whole game is fluff. In 5 years no one will give a rats behind how many 55's you have or what content you did. If they shut it down tomorrow we would keep on living. The entire game is optional.

Taken to absurd extreme... you would be correct. However.. you have to make the journey to absurd extreme.. which frankly is just a passive aggressive tactic IMO.

Back on point.....the point is... the cutscene from the datacubes has absolutely no relevance to playing and progressing through the game in any way. Neither do armor skins for that matter, or dyes, or special mounts. None of them in any way improve or augment the ability to play and make forward progress (which is why most players play games) in the game other then personal player immersion. And one players "immersion" is another players "don't care".

The only objection I have to how they have handled this change in rewards on data cubes is they should make the XP boosts bind to legacy so they have use beyond just one character. But they do not have a bind to legacy version of the XP boosts yet as far as I know..so maybe they fix this later.

As for people wanting refunds on Collections.... meh.... if you bought the collection to take advantage of the exploits...too bad. You can still use collections to allow each character to do the cutscene and gain an XP boost if that is important to you. Personally, I'll pass. Lore and an XP booster (or even the credit boom) was not enough tingle to get me interested in the cubes to begin with. And if it were... I'd just buy them off the GTN. I certainly would not spend CCs to unlock the collections for them.

You know, you say it sounds silly, but then, I always thought "shutting down a MMO that is making a profit" was silly. And it happened.

Let's go with the idea that the CM has a different set of devs than the actual game. Did they higher someone(s) to make cutscenes and story content, just for the CM? If so, why not have hired more for what /you/ seem to consider THE REAL story that isn't fluff, to put that content out faster?

It's a cutscene with voice dialogue. Everything else in the game like it is considered story, but all of a sudden, this one bit of it, isn't, because, it's not class specific? Because you don't get a reward out of it, but wait you did and they took out the reward people payed real money for, because they didn't have the thought, wait, Credit Boom...collections...what are we thinking?!

Nonsequitur to the discussion. I assume you are referring to CoX.. for which there were underlying reasons why NCsoft management shut it down. I don't agree with them..but hey.. their game.. their choice. They chose to send a clear message to their studios to tow the company line and behave. I have to give them credit as it was a very Korean thing to do (from a business perspective).

Just because they have a separate team working the deployment of CM content does not mean they are siloed and do not borrow and collaborate with the core content team. In fact, content to date in the CM suggests that they do in fact collaborate and borrow content.

A convenient, biased, and narrow minded perspective IMO. Do you really sincerely believe these short and disconnected cutscenes in the data cubes are anything other then a simple novelty and gimmick? Seriously??
