Duh. Isn't that why people buy the RNG Packs to begin with, in the hopes of getting what they consider a reward "Oh! Look! I got the crystal I wanted!" <---that's a reward.

Every argument for these datacubes fails. First it was "This isn't content, its fluff that gives you the option of three items you can use" now it's "Oh well, you get a worthless item you can't use." and people think it's a valid argument, when people paid CC to unlock these datacubes in their collections for the purpose in which they were said by posters "to grab your choice of reward"

And like the rare Jawagrams these items just became a wasted roll in the pack, and wasted RL money for those who paid for the unlock to use the item as it was intended...to obtain your choice of a boost/boon.

Obviously, that wasn't intended to be anything but a perk and the real thing was the story. So yes, you're paying for additional content.
"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more...than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so *********** what." - Stephen Fry

Why would you do it after it was fixed?

Treat this as a golden rule: the Collections system is never intended as a way of obtaining credits.

The data-cubes will appeal to people who like the lore aspect and these people will not acquire based on a credit boom. So Duh right back at you. Sure.. there was an exploit and people quickly isolated it and ran it until it was corrected... and these folks probably had no interest in the lore element whatsoever. But that ship has sailed now.

As for the packs....it's a very poor ROI to buy packs in hopes of a specific drop. Better to just buy the desired item right off the GTN and save yourself the grief of RNG.

Indeed.

And Bioware needs to hire a sociopath to playtest any content that crosses the collections boundary, specifically to check for credit exploits Before the patch goes live. They can reward said sociopath on the basis of every exploit they find.. they love that sort of thing.

If it's lore, it's content, and BW said they wouldn't charge for content. So, which is it? Reward or lore content?

You obviously have no idea what a sociopath is, as it doesn't take a sociopath to go around looking for exploits in a game.

It's fluff. The same tired dramatic statement has been made by someone about every single thing released through the CM. Give a rest.

If you want to call fluff content, fine.... just be clear about it when you do as most MMO players do not consider fluff = content. Personally, it's I don't care one way or the other.... but a lot of players get hung up about content in the CM and is it fluff or not.

Bioware decides what is and is not material content (as opposed to fluffy content). They said CM is fluff only content. Therefore by definition, you are incorrect, and they are correct. They also said that CM content would cost Cartel Coins..... which may or may not mean you are charged for it.. since subscribers get coins every month that they can spend in the CM and avoid paying real life currency for CM items.

So class storyline and companion storyline cutscenes are now fluff? Because that's what the datacubes are giving, cutscenes.

Lore is fluff? The entire game is built around the Lore. No Lore no game.

Data cubes are NOT giving out class storylines or companion storylines.

A disintegral cutscene that means nothing to either character or companions in the context of core game content =/= storylines. It's a cutscene without meaning other then a fragment of lore surrounding the game.

They are fragments at best... with no connectivity... ie: fluffy little fragments in a cutscene.
