Are people really still just "wanting desperately to be at endgame?" Why? To farm dailies and farm ops for hours to get a +10 stat upgrade?

I mean that's a serious question. If you want "normal" MMO activities, WoW does all of them better in every way aside from the IP. Better engine, better control, better encounters, better class design, better challenge.

If anything, SWTOR needs to move AWAY from those activities and focus on what it does best by providing more story content at a quicker pace.

I think some players would do it just to have a main... or a farmer. As someone else mentioned, it would be great for people who love to PvP. No more leveling in a PvE environment. Honestly, I couldn't see a downfall in allowing someone to make this type of play purchase. Also, there could be an account restriction and having a 180 day cooldown.

Exactly! I'm also all for tight restrictions so the consumer knows that this cannot be undone, and you're doing this fully understanding the consequences.

Also, I modified the OP to mention the 180 day cooldown. Meaning you could only use the unlock once every 6 months. That would also restrict the amount of 55s made at one time.

I wonder if the Cooldown should be every 90 days or 180 days. I would imagine after 90 days, someone would be ready to try a new class.

I do not think the idea is too bad. Some of the reasons against it mentioned:
  • The storyline is so great and unique that everyone must see it; Actually only the main class storylines are unique, the advanced class stories are same. So if someone leveled lets say a sage to 55 and wants to roll a shadow, it would be the same story, same quests all over again.
  • They can not learn how to play their class properly. If its not the first toon i don't think you need to go through 55 lvl to learn to play a class, no way. On the other hand side there is no being sure that someone leveling to 55 through storyline and missions can play the class to its full potential in a PVP or OPS environment. Those skills are picked up while doing it.

So in a nut shell, i am OK with it. If there shall be restrictions like a cooldown or legacy level requirement or the 100% completion of the class storyline, all fine. I would not shell out 10k CC or anything in that range (maybe 1000CC max) but again, if someone wants so be it.

You know, seeing with what they've done lately...

20k CC, One level 50 already...no cool down...spend 20k CC get to 50 on one character!

Why not? Would probably lead to a lot of money for BW, then they may actually go "Okay, more content!"
"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more...than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so *********** what." - Stephen Fry

Even blizzard only did it with RAF system and there is cap limitation. (lv 79 while cap is lv 90.) Player actually have to level together to earn level before level can be grant to veteran account.

I actually would welcome if SWTOR have similar system, since you only get a vehicle with RAF in SWTOR.

What is the point to hit lv 55 in sec when you have no gear and have no idea how to play the class? No matter if it is PVE or PVP. Hardcore pvper want to skip the boring leveling part? That is interesting because Hardcore PVPer can level though pvp just fine. I am pretty much leveling my second sage as healer through pvp at this point.

I guess people want to take short cut than they can whine about be raped by Partisan / Conqueror / Firebrand geared player in warzone or kicked out heroic flashpoint / operation because they don't have the gear.

This way, if you are in a rush, you can hit the iWin button, get to level cap, go get your gear from the GTN, and go do what you want to do and leave the questing and side missions to those of us who enjoy them.
Haha, no way
