Since Class stories are "over" why not try this?

I am assuming that the class stories are finished forever now because if I was a guessing man, I would guess that it is too expensive and just takes too much time for them to continue therefore the developers are just making 1 story per faction for any further planets. Because of this it got me to thinking. Many of the stories did not feel finished even ones with very dramatic endings **The Jedi Knight story** and it seemed like they would continue and the choices we made in the past would carry over to the future of the game. But since this is looking like it wont happen, why not let us go back and replay the class missions with the level scale matched to the current level of our characters? Its not like this is such a big deal because all of our decisions we made really don't matter all that much and since class story wont be returning it shouldn't be a confusing feature for them to add. I've always wondered what a Dark Side Jedi Knight character would be like, I even went to the extent of making a new character just to see this. I have 5 level 55's and I want to play all of their class stories again without going through the entire leveling process again. This shouldn't be very confusing at al because there are games out there that after you finish the main story it gives you an option to run it again with all your skills and such. This is just an idea Bioware but this would be a great way to kill time, find an alternative way to level up, and just flat out enjoy the game more.

What is your opinion on this idea? any ways to build on to it? do you think it should be implemented?

I know there's no way any class stories are coming any time soon, but have they really said "over?" The game is recovering financially. They already have more chapters written.

What's to say a year or more from now there won't be a real expansion? Space + 10 levels of class story?

Class stories should be returning. There are loose ends.
Thinking about subbing? Use this link to help us both out http://www.swtor.com/r/3txb7F

This has been in the suggestion box a number of times. I would love to see this happen.

Everything inside the green door shouldn't be a problem to just bump up the level of the mobs. Outside doesn't matter at all, nothing really happens in the open world for the story anyway. Could turn off the light/dark if they want, so you don't change your current alignment. Just a complete play through of the story without and side quests or distractions.

I really want to see this happen. Just to put the story together the way it was supposed to be told. Could even make it a "way back moment" from a NPC as a quest. To tell them your story the way you remember it. Then you play through how ever you want as a story for the NPC.

Some of the class stories desperately need some better closure, like the agent story.

Class stories are NOT over and are NOT too expensive. Your assumptions are wrong. This game will not be able to keep people interested with mere faction based storylines. Makeb is proof that such stories are not sustainable. Many people are not going to revisit the planet with all their alts, I sure as hell will not. Class stories will continue with true expansions. Little dlc expansions will focus on the factions.

Do not assume BW has given up on class story continuation, they have not. Not once have they ever mentioned that class stories will never continue.

Any replay of the class story you finished will only work as long as every decision and conversation choice you made is locked. You do not get to change the story in any way, shape or form. You made those decisions, you live with them. Being allowed to go back and change things just makes the story pointless. I, for one, hope they never allow us to replay through the storylines we completed.

Imo they should so something to appease both camps (see below).
BioWare wants to focus on "global" stories, which is good, because our characters are "big damn heroes", and you do not ask hero to do small stuff.
Players want personal stories, which is also good.

What I fail to see why people think of those as mutually exclusive.
Let us have big global goal, but lets have each class contribute to reaching it in their own way, with some missions that act as "crossovers".
EXAMPLE
We are raiding dread masters secret lair, that is guarded by some energy shields, artillery installations and a huge army. It is placed on some planet with furry natives. So, we need to disable the shield, disable the artillery installations, and fight through the army.
Individual class stories follow
  • Trooper (as a demolitions expert) disables artillery installations
  • Smuggler sabotages base defenses, like turrets, poisons the troops, etc
  • Jedi Knight leads strike teams to weaken enemy main force
  • Jedi Consular convinces furry natives to help in attack
As we do our class missions, sometimes a "crossover" mission happens, like disabling the shield, or the final onslaught. These are the missions that are the same for all characters. These missions could take into account what we accomplished in our class missions (like more furry natives if I play as my consular that was really good and convincing them, etc). In the end, we successfully take down the base. Planet story over.

And here is how the rest of the dev stage would probably look like

All republic class male VO actors recite lines for side missions
All republic class female VO actors recite lines for side missions
All imperial class male VO actors recite lines for side missions
All imperial class male VO actors recite lines for side missions

then you have to do class specific stuff
JK missions x2 male and female VO
Consular missions x2
Smuggler missions x2
Trooper missions x2
SW missions x2
Inquisitor missions x2
Agent missions x2
BH missions x2

That's just voice work. Side missions mostly use the same NPC reaction dialogue options, same animations, same camera work and so on. The quest areas are the same, and the instance areas are the same. For class missions each dialogue is unique from other classes, you would have to design separate objectives and instance areas. In short it's not as easy as writing out bullet statements on a forum.
I'm not really a noob...

Id be more than happy to buy a higher priced expansion if they included class stories and new class companions
