The wow devs have said more then once they wish they never put arenas into the game because of the balance issues it caused. It took far too much of their time trying to solve the problem they created with arenas.

Sorry but it is a fact that arenas did more harm for the balance of wow then anything else they ever did.

Also you can like PvP and hate arenas. If you want to "deathmatch" with teams go out to the pit in outlaws den and do it yourself. Afterall 99% of PvPers only PvP for the fast track to loot they do not actually care about being good players.
IMO - these might be legit concers if this wasn't BW/EA. It seems they have long history of successful ignoring problems in swtor, so I doubt possible balance issues (if they happened) would cause them much trouble.

Do you think maybe a 5v5 arena only would affect balance? 2v2....I'm sure that would affect it tremendously. I'm just saying surely there is a system BW could implement that would make arena less of a headache

no they would stop production on new content to try and balance a failed arena system... sorry but its not worth the risk as well as PvP is a very very small part of this MMOs population. they seem to look at the bigger picture which is the PvE side.

If the devs can figure out how to implement this without having to balance classes a billion times, I'd be game. I just don't want my class to go through yet another nerf that makes it a POS. There's been so many crippling nerfs, then buffs to fix it, then more crippling nerfs, then more buffs to make up for it...just....-_-

since you havent played wow, i will ignore your post to blissful ignorances.

arena in wow make class balance like hell. most classes WILL GET NERF because will their be a pair of classes that will be unbeatable in 2v2 or 4v4 in pvp.

for example

juggernaut + sorc = unkillable

then BW would have to nerf these two classes to solve that issue and then swtor will repeat the wow class balance hell which will never end.

Because when (not if) it is done wrong, it screws up EVERYTHING. PvP, PvE...the whole game would quickly go into the toilet because it would add a third thing that would require balancing that would have an effect across all aspects of game play...just like it did in WoW.

As an object lesson, go back and look at the team comps for 3v3 championship teams for the last few years and compare them with one another. You can easily see the crack the whip nerf cycle that happens when a comp becomes too dominant in 3v3 arena play and its subsequent nerfing for the following season.

Now imagine being part of a raid team and having your class hit hard with the nerf bat and finding out that your class is no longer viable for progression raiding...all because of 3v3 arena pvp. I had that happen too many times before washing my hands of the entire game and moving on.

I'd rather not see that cycle repeat here.

What does this have to do with wow again?

Well it doesn't have to be 3 vs 3. I didn't even say that. Why not make it 8 vs 8 first and see what happens.
