In EVERY OTHER GAME every class has the same story, and they don't even have any choices for you to make. Some games make every class go to the same trainer and same vendor too.
and in every other game, your allowed to switch specs in that class.

its a change in play style, whenever you switch specs your play style changes.

you are in this game... you just do not understand what a class is in this game.

Vanguard/Powertech
Sentinel/Marauder
Sage/Sorcerer
Guardian/Juggernaught
Gunslinger/Sniper
Soundrel/Operative
Shadow/Assassin
Commando/Mercenary

That is the list of 8 classes in this game. sorry you lack the ability to grasp that but that is the facts.

Unsubscribed due to no new Operations.
I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

What is different between each AC for each class? Obviously different sub stats (crit, defense rating, alacrity, ect) and skill trees, but aside from that, what makes a vanguard so much different then a commando? Do we not both use aim? Do we not both go through the same story? Don't we make the same choices? Do we not go to same trainer? Do we not go to the same vendors? Are our companions different? Were we both not once troopers?

Same goes for each class.
Juggernaut vs Marauder/Guardian vs Sentinel

Juggernaut/Guardian

heavy armor
tank/DPS
single lightsaber
taunts

Marauder/Sentinel

medium armor
DPS only
two lightsabers
no taunts

Assassin vs Sorcerer/Shadow vs Sage

Assassin/Shadow

Stealth
tank/melee DPS
double bladed lightsaber-used for most attacks

Sorcerer/Sage

No stealth
heals/ranged DPS
single lightsaber-rarely if ever used for attacks

Sniper vs Operative/Gunslinger vs Scoundrel

Sniper/Gunslinger
no stealth
DPS only
sniper rifle for sniper, dual blaster pistols for gunslinger
primarily ranged DPS

Operative/Scoundrel

stealth
heals/ DPS more melee based
blaster rifle for operative, single blaster pistol for scoundrel

Powertech vs Mercenary/Vanguard vs Commando

Powertech/Vanguard

Tank/melee DPS
single blaster pistol for powertech, blaster rifle for vanguard

Mercenary/Commando

Heal/ ranged DPS
dual blaster pistols for mercenary, assault cannon for commando

Those are just the first few that came to mind. Those also do not even begin to include the different rotations, etc. that each class uses.

Do you still feel that you know more than the devs who have stated that the different AC's are DIFFERENT classes and have never changed their stance on that fact?

The fact that they have allowed some cosmetic changes does not negate the fact that the devs have never wavered on their stance that different AC's are different classes. Sticking your fingers in your ears and going "NAHNAHNAHNAH" because you don't like what they said is not going to change that.

your comparing opposite factions, not ACs.

Try reading it again. I simply grouped the mirror classes together.

I'm sorry, but you are really starting to reach here. No game lets you switch from a mage to a warrior. You purposefully changed your term to "spec" to make this point, but you know damn well by now that an AC = Class. Let me try and help you, as I get the impression you have only 1 character at level 45

Vanguard = Warrior
Commando = Paladin

Sentinel = Mage
Guardian = Warrior

Sage = Priest
Shadow = Rogue

Gunslinger=Mage
Scoundrel=Priest

If i was to change my sentinel to a tank, I could not afford to gear it to the same level it is at now, and I would be hounding the guild tanks to explain what all the funny buttons are for.

I Play a Sent, Merc, Shadow, Jugg, Sniper, and Commando
My wife has a Commando, Marauder, Scoundrel, and Sage

I can tell you from sitting at her screen to fill a raid slot, that if I was able to Push a button and turn my Shadow tank into a healer.... well... I wouldn't be doing my guild any favors.

Really, you have to play the class... to be able to play the class.

They have said over and over AC switching will not take place.

What they ARE entertaining is DUAL SPEC:

My Sentinel - Switch from Focus PVP build to Watchman OPS build
My Shadow - Switch from Tank build to DPS build
My Commando - Switch from DPS build to Healer Build

You are just confused about basic game mechanics. If you have played more than one char to 50 or 55, I apologize.
I would then ask you to really think about what you would have to do to re-gear that Vanguard to healer.
