What should've been much more important for the Empire was the establishment of a sane, relatively stable military leadership, the reduction of racial prejudices allowing for more manpower to trickle into the ranks from nonhuman species, the potential advantages that could come on the heels of Republic overextension (although that would make for a fairly infuriating Pub side storyline) and so on. And perhaps those things will be. But isotope-5 is what's getting play right now, due to Makeb.
It didn't work out simply because it came too late and there was no time. If there would be enough time and resources (factories not mostly destroyed by Allies), just those new fighters could've made a lot of difference since we know that war in the sky was one of the biggest advantages for Allies by that time.

And this is not just fighters that will be influenced by isotope-5

I haven't finished Makeb, but the beginning of Makeb gives you a lore entry that basically says 'the republic has the Empire on the brink, and the only thing stopping them from winning is that they apparently have more enemies than they thought'. The Empire loses what, three Dark Council members over the course of imperial classes? Not to mention the damage that the Republic causes.

Plus there's the fact that there are so many stupid Imperial quest givers 'Go kill all of our slaves so we can build a wall out of their bones to keep rakghouls out!' that suggest doing things that damage the Empire more than help it... and yeah.

I believe this question is stupid. We all know where the war ends. This question is like seeing a movie made about world war two and half way through asking "Who do you think is winning?!"

Dïomedes - Vengeance Juggernaut (PvP DPS)

The republic will survive, obviously but how and in what shape is entirely open. Personally, I'd wager the Sith will be killed/converted while the rest of the imps will be integrated into the republic or, given that the current imperial emblem is the emblem of the republic in the future, the current empire might reform entirely after winning the war.

We just don't know. There is too large a gap between the MMO events and the next EU stories time-wise.

Between Corellia, Malgus, and the Dread Masters, the Empire's military was effectively gutted, and the notion that isotope-5 can suddenly make it all better is a little ridiculous. Hitler staked Nazi Germany's future on Wunderwaffen; I don't see why Marr doing the same thing should give the Empire any better of a chance at victory than the Hitlerites had in 1944.

But hey, BW writers have done things that I think are ridiculous before.
Really now? Because I seem to recall Japan surrendering after the United States created (and used) the atomic bomb. The Germans ran over the polish in WW2 because they had tanks while poland was still using calvary. And I'm pretty sure that if the Empire had the death star right now the republic wouldn't stand a chance. For you to say technology can not turn the tide of a war is just downright stupid.

Yes because World War 2 was fought for thousands of years.

If the war even ends. In cannon the republic survives no matter the outcome of the war , however our choices here manipulate that outcome! I still think the Empire stands a very good chance , even better then before. Since all of the "bad" officer are in jail or killed , Spoiler:

( only great officer was Rakton )

And the Empire has fewer planets to look after they can focus and build better defences now. With planets that 90% won't rebel up against the Empire also Marr has a fine leadership skill unlike the emperor who was more powerful (but in a way he had stupid strategy) , now that the empire is defending i think they can still turn the war around , also the republic just recieved too much planets to look after and build proper defences on soon they will realise the empires biggest disadvantage and advantage , the big territory where some of the planets start getting: Corruptions,Revolutions,Rebellions. War is just starting.
Footnote: I think like many others do , the empire and republic military will convert into eachother against major threats of the Galaxy after a time the Siths rebel up , and then they will be hunted until they think the siths has been removed from the galaxy.
