Well, ive certainly used the Huttsbane outfit, and i think it fits really well.
It just depends on the character i guess.
However, i dont see myself ever using the turncoat outfit.

gambling packs with new color and make horrible looking outfits=losing customers and paying subs
Ah yes.. because principles proven through hundreds of years of capitalism to be a succesful marketing formula are the reason companies close down. But sure.. I'll listen to the value a random person on the internet gives to a marketting principle instead of the thousands of case studies that prove this basic principle.

I'm not claiming it is a universal truth and that it is always exactly 20% vs 80%.. the general principle is true though: You can not make a company and continue it being profitable by selling only the A grade products that make you the most money. Especially companies like Walmart, Mediamarkt and Ikea thrive by this principle. Make sure you offer everything, even if parts of what you offer give no or less profit.

But sure.. the principle is wrong, and you are right. Internet arrogance at it's best here. Reality is on my side, not yours.

News flash.. some people DO want sets like the Huttbane and the new one.. Not much, but some do. So Bioware is taking care of those customers as well.. allienating parts of the customer base because other parts won't buy it is what I call "not taking care of your customers", yet you are calling for exactly that by wanting only the high quality, A group products like the Valiant Jedi armor. That's like a game store saying: We only sell Sony because they sell the most. How many game stores do you see doing that?
You really need to learn about having a business before claiming to know how Bioware has to run theirs.

I completely agree with this. This has been bothering me since launch. Every set of semi Jedi looking armor has some weird armor added somewhere. It may have a nice Jedi cloak, but the chest piece is this huge metal plate. Or there's a cool cloak but there's weird shoulder pieces. OR there's another cloak that looks decent but has this weird pattern on it so it's not cloth looking but like the Gree put their box pattern all over it (thinking of one of the rare sorc pieces with this one).

I went from Republic to Empire and I can honestly say that on both sides the set of armor I want MOST is a set that looks EXACTLY like what Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were wearing in Episode 1 and for Sith I want what Darth Maul was wearing. Complete with baggier pants here people. There was no extra metal crap anywhere. It really made me feel like they were surrounded by the force and didn't need the same armor as the tech based people to protect themselves. They didn't need the extra body armor because they could deflect or dodge the blaster bolts.

Summary: I just want ROBES. Black ones and the traditional brown and cream ones. Simple is best in this case.

And longer sleeves. These short sleeved robes look stupid. I want flowing sleeves. Thanks.

People in this thread need to learn more about the Pareto principle. This item is a very clear example of it.

To say it quickly.. about 20% of a shop's products make about 80% of the shop's income, while the 80% other items make only 20% of the shop's income. Why even have those 80% other items you might say? Well because if you don't have a complete enough set of items to buy, people won't come to your shop to get those 20% items, but chose to go to a shop that does sell those few items they do have that you do not.

It is a simple marketing principle about making sure your stock of items is broad enough to make sure people spend money in your shop, and not others.

Having items like this, or Huttsbane, are all about that same principle. You release these items for a very small subset of your customer base, in this case probably Roleplayers looking for a 'civilian' outfit, to make sure your stock is complete enough. Once people feel they can get everything they want from you, they will stay more loyal to your shop.

So.. from just the Pareto principle, you can say that for every Valiant Jedi set, or for every other good looking set everyone will love, you need to have 4 less universally enjoyed sets to ensure your stock is broad enough to appeal to your entire market.

Understand this principle, and you understand why Bioware 'wastes' slots of 'armor development' on these things. and yes, they are just skins already available in game made adaptive. A simple, quickly made item is perfect to be in the 80% group.. while the star sets, the unique ones, need to be in the 20% group. Cost vs Reward.. they never expected you all to buy this item.
The main point of this thread from what I have read is that BW seems oblivious to what actually makes up the 20% that you say makes 80% of the profits! How many ppl would buy the 'movie' Jedi and Sith robes? It something that has been asked for since long before launch and we were told they were in the works. Also what about all the species that ppl wanted and a lot more than the cathar! Ok some are not practical but many are. So yes BW does waste time on these rubbish armour sets when then could produce things ppl actually want.

It's a joke. I don't mean that as a criticism, I mean it literally.

For all of these people banging on about the Pareto Principle and marketing budgets nobody seemingly bothered to read the item description.

"This <armor piece> was recovered by Cartel Associate N4-T3 on his final day of service"

I imagine that a guy in the company called Nate (N4t3) has just left for another job. Hence the turncoat armor and final day of service thing.

Eric said that those classic Jedi outfits are in plans but that was few months ago. Since then we've been getting trash like huttsbane garments, turncout outfit and more.

Why not just pull from this thread?

I thought that was the point of it

The name "Turncoat" made me hope a little to see something like Mal's get-up*, so seeing the actual set was really, really disappointing.

Yup, one huge thread and maybe only Thana's outfit made it...
