This will cause problems. Most people have trouble finding a group, that's why they USE the group finder and do pug Fps. Unless its someone's first time watching the story, it should go off the majority. If 3 people want to skip, and everyone has seen it already, don't be selfish and hold the whole group up, especially in HMs as you can solo a lot of the Sms and watch it on your own.

That's not to say the OP did the right thing. From what he wrote, he just left the group and explained afterwords why. If that's true, that's just flat out rude. Also, dps are a lot harder to find in SM fps. Players in general actually are. Last but not least, it probably would have been best just to finish it but not group with them again to avoid the nerd rage after.

So yes, you were a ******* by how you handled it, but the idea behind it isn't wrong.

Your frined doesnt have to do anything, only be grouped with you so you can enter the hangar. After you watch the story, you can leave the group and do the ops later.
Nice idea, but doesn't work...
In Karaggas Palace, there is a cutscene when getting to the first boss... and another when getting to Karagga himself. Both are typically majorly spoiled by people chatting in TS and both are typically urged to be skipped. Two days ago, I even had a tank in a 16-man raid on KP (for the achievements) which included at least 3 people, who never saw the OP before. I told them in TS to move backwards right after the cutscene (leading to the rancor fight) and then I skipped through. The tank however was trigger happy and did attack, when half of the raid was still in the cutscene.

In Denova, you get cutscenes prior to the tank-bosses and prior to Kephess.
Same in Asation, S&V and Palace. There are cutscenes in the middle of the instances, far beyond the briefing.. and there is no way for a new player to ever get to watch them in peace unless the raid lets them. And for that, they need to mute TS as there is always some idiot talking right into it, cause they skipped the scene.

Because thats fair, right?
After all, the needs of the one far outweighs the needs of the many... as long as the one is you.
Am i reading that right?
Actually I think what he was trying to say was that he wanted to skip the convos but the group did not so he decided to give his spot up ( being he was a dps and therefore fairly easy to replace) so that the group did not have to worry about it.
And no I see nothing wrong in that.
We didn't start the Star Wars,They were already fightin' em,since George was writing them!!

I can't remember the last run I did, even in a hard mode, in which everyone actually space-bar'd the conversations. Are people to lazy to whack the space bar? Surfing pr0n during the conversation they've already seen 17 dozen times? What gives?

I just let the cutscenes run and pretend that it's not me and see how close to the edge the group gets.

It's the new PvP.

I play with that background-sound-thing enabled so even if I decide to do something else, I still hear the stuff that's going on in the fp. So if we don't skip convos, I just come here to check the forums while I hear some random npc speaking, and when everything goes quiet, I go back to the game and click the convo option and so on. Doesn't bother me at all if someone wants to watch the cutscenes.
There is a face beneath this mask but it's not me.

I don't mind when leveling alts to expect no one to skip convos since it is SM and its first time, but when its at HM You better skip and choose darkside at the engineering section (If you maxxed light you can refrain)

You aren't to blame at all. I do think you were expecting a bit too much to skip the movies in Story mode, since that is where I fully expect to watch them, but I also think you did the best thing you could by removing yourself from the group instead of being an a-hole and yelling at them. No big deal imo. You didn't disrupt their enjoyment of the story, nor were you a difficult role to replace. I applaud you for being man enough to just leave.

This. For someone RP-ing a sequential timeline, then re-doing the Esseles five levels later would be a major no-no. They want to see it the first time and forget about doing it ever again until they get to level 50 and HM it.

That is all.

The same argument could be said that your group should find a non GF group of like minded story watchers. HM FPs are designed to be re-run over and over, there's a daily reward for them, and currently there are only 4. WIthin a week you've seen the story and should be spacebarring through. If someone wants to watch story in a HM they should: A. Ask if the group if it's OK and accept the no if they get it. B. Find a group of story people to run it. C. Just solo it in SM for the story.
