With that kind of thinking you could say that anyone who is working is a slave. Oh I work as a mechanic and I was forced by my boss to fix this car, oh the horror, it turns out I'm a slave. if someone does not like the idea of giving a lap dance, they can go find another job.

The whole point of ''slavery'' is not being paid. Coerced ''exotic dancers are not being paid. Twi'leks dancers are usually not paid either.

Ryloth, as described as in ''The Bacta War'' (and to a lesser degree in the Ryloth act in TCW) is a third world hell-hole. For instance, the Essential Atlas states that the Ryloth government have no issue at all with the slave trade, providing it get it's share of the creds.

A bunch of stereotypes are nothing compared to that.

And for that matter, why is the Empire so cartoonishly evil and the Republic so annoyingly benevolent?
And the answer is... because they are part of a story, one written a long time ago about a galaxy far, far away at a time when people enjoyed watching movies were Good and Evil were perfectly defined and no gray areas existed.

Also, IIRC, female Twi'leks were often used as dancers because of how beautiful they were so if you see something wrong with that, then you might need to have a talk with George.
Twi'leks dancers are ''beautiful'' because pretty Twi'lek female children on Ryloth are groomed into being dancers.

Except they are not "Coerced" in republic space. And they do get paid.

Numerous sources state they are not, or that, like on Earth, that they are ''paid'' but that their wages are pocketed.

1)By their ''boyfriends'' (As the gal on Taris, in KOTOR)

2)To pay for a religious traditionnal Twi'lek burial (As in a short story in ''Tales of the New Republic)

3)By paying hefty protections fees to the Black Sun and the like (as in ''Shadows of the Empire)

Because all stories are about something bad happening. And people trying to solve their problems. No one ever writes about some dancer girl who works as a dancer by her own will and has no problems. Because it would be totally boring and it would not be a story at all without problems. But just because no one writes about those happy people, that does not mean there are none.
I mean look at news. News are mostly reporting bad things, because no one cares about good things. Should we assume that every single plane crashes and never lands safely, just because news only report crashes and never reports safe landings?
If all dancers would be slaves, then you would not have any dancing at all in republic space, cause slavery is illegal. But you DO have skimpy dancing in republic space (where slavery is illegal), which means twi'leks are dancing there by their own will.

And even then, the black suns and stuff are criminal gangs. They are not some political party of the republic senate. They do not belong to any faction. They should not be counted.
On Sith and Hutt sides, however, slavery is perfectly legal and everyone, including all political figures own slaves. In the republic, only criminals, who have not been caught yet, deal with slavery.

At least, it's better as a topic than people complaining about the CM...

Sadly, it does seems that a huge proportion of Twi'leks female characters end up as outright slaves, and that slavery is associated with dancing.

Example, the Rar sisters. Think about it : slavery is so widespread among Twi'leks that virtually all female Twi'leks that are Force-sensitive were (dancing) slaves at one point.

Or should muscular strong men be "dancing", while slender females doing hard labour? But that would be a total mess, because females could not do their hard field jobs and significantly less people (if any) would enjoy seeing dirty smelly muscular men dancing.

It's almost like complaining that people use spoons to eat soup, instead of using a forks.

Just throwing it out there.

The female dancer you talk to on Coruscant was a NAUTOLAN NOT A TWI'LEK.

You only talked to the Twi'Lek to ask where the Nautolan was.

That does not change the fact that she was not forced to do it in any way, she wanted to work there herself.
