Why do the vast majority of romances in this game border on pedophilia?

That just makes it sound even worse.

If you're telling the truth when you say that this was meant to be a facetious thread, then I'd say you should be ashamed of yourself. There is nothing about paedophilia that is funny, or should be joked about. On the other hand, if you're lying, and meant this honestly, but backed down when you got called on it, you should probably go introduce yourself at the local sex-offenders registry.

If my companions can smuggle spice and beat rakghouls with their shiny electrified sticks, they're are probably mature enough to decide who they want to date.

I mean sure, I wouldn't be surprised to see Torian watching My Little Pony: Spaceships are Magic, but that doesn't mean he isn't capable making decisions like an adult.

They're both post-puberty, so pedophillia doesn't apply.

FWIW, this is a conversation my playing group often has and we agree with the OP that many (but not all) of the relationships, especially the male PC-female LI, seems to give off Lolita vibes, no matter what the canonical ages of the NPCs are.

I don't really play much male characters but (keep in mind that everyone is legal)

Consular: Iresso is far from being a child, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders and if anything is a doting BF. I feel like the view each other as friends/comrades. From what I see from Nadia - she seems a little childlike in her actions at first but grows as a person, and I got the 'partner' feel when everything was said and done.

Bounty Hunter: Torian - while I did feel like he was younger than I was, I didn't get a 'pedo' vibe during the whole thing. He just seemed like a young adult and I would say is the closest thing to ''apprentice'' that a BH would get - but still by the end of it he seemed to have grown out of that and was confident in himself and his abilities. With Mako I always felt like she was my partner ''Just don't forget we're a team okay?'' If that wasn't a big enough clue. (☞ﾟ∀ﾟ)☞

Imperial Agent: Vector never once felt like a subordinate or younger than me. In fact he was pretty darn mature and often did things by himself. The same thing with Kaliyo, she was just along for the ride - albiet I felt she was a bit unstable (like a time bomb). The only one who I would think would be questionable would be Temple. Just because she seems so uncertain about how to be a good IA - but again, time changes that.

Warrior: Quinn is just ... Quinn. He's respectful to you and in fact doesn't just fall into your arms at the start. Vette is ehh .. if you're playing as a Dark Side character I could see how people would find that weird, but again I think its how you play the character. I do not have a DS Male Warrior so I can't really comment on crazy JW.

Jedi Guardian: I haven't finished the romance on either male or female so I can't comment. (シ_ _)シ

Trooper: Jorgan felt like a great dynamic actually. He was super mean to the Trooper but grew to respect and eventualy love her. Dorne I have no idea where people are getting the idea that she's naive from - she defected from the Imperials, understanding the risks, put her life on the line for those she cared about, and a lot more.

AT WORST, it's a senior employee/junior employee dynamic at the beginning. But by the time you get to having a romance, the relationship is one of equals.

Yes. She obviously doesn't seem as old as Risha and Elara, who are much more experienced in the world. But I see her as maybe a 24-25 year old young woman. Just because she's close to her father and her father is still looking out for her (due to her untamed abilities) is not really reason to presume she's underage.

The actress who gives Nadia her voice is 37 years old.

And I have to ask... if you really felt they were underage... what were you doing continuing the romance with them, or even flirting with them the first time? When I found the little girl on Coruscant who wanted me to go find her brother and was obviously a young kid, I had no thoughts of, plans to, or even tolerance of trying to "romance" her.

If I'd felt the same way about the other companions, I'd have similarly avoided any semblance of going along with it.

That said, Elara was my favorite. I'm a total sucker for that accent.
