My main personal issue, is that they are treating customization as a non "core" feature of the game. Any long-time MMO player will tell you that customization IS the CORE feature of an MMO, more so than any other genre. So I take great issue with the fact that even though I pay $15/mo., I also have to pay more to use them, or wait months to save up enough "complimentary" coins, paying $15 each month during the waiting period.

This whole thing just makes me sad. I love this game. I don't want to hurt EA or BioWare but I also don't want them to hurt me either.
Ok, there are a coule points of contention here that I would like to address:

1. Customization is a core feature. Please give me one example where it is not a part of the game design (i.e. a player skill or crafting mechanic). DCUO is one, but only for color, but it launched that way. Therefore, part of game design. The other caveat is that they monitize through microtransactions and provide a stipend of said game's monitization currency.

2. Do you have prices to reveal that indicate that it will take "months" to afford a cosmetic change?
It's amazing how loud a dollar can be.

For example, SWG and GW2 made the barbershop and color modification of gear a core mechanic. It was actually part of the character skillset and a factor in how the player had an income. Plenty of other MMORPGs have no barbershops or color modification for gear. Therefore, it is not a core mechanic as many other MMORPGs function fine without it.

As many have pointed out before, if you are a subscriber, you are given a stipend of CCs to spend each month. At minimum, it is 500/mo. Since we don't what the costs will be, we can't really say if it is outside the norm. So anything else is just overreactionary.
The 500 CC per month argument is so stupid that i wont even consider. 500 CCs per month is nothing if you check the Cartel Market prices.

You think storyline is core mechanic in SwTor?. Yes, it is. However out of getting some Companions and the ship, you can totally skip the storyline and for example, run the highend content without any problem. You dont even need to end the storyline to go Makeb too.

Operations or Warzones is a core feature?. Yes, however if you remove the Operations, for example, what would happen?. A lot of people wont even notice cos they dont care the Ops. Same about warzones.

If this game was NOT a RPG, a Barber Shop wont be a core feature but being a RPG, it is. Everything that involves how you TOON looks or CAN do inside the game, is a core feature cos the game, i repeat, is a role playing game and everything is about YOU and the world that surrounds you.

Well, look at that. I see two things at there very bottom of the 100+ bullet points that are fixes or quality of life improvements that aren't something they broke in 2.0 or later. TWO.

Their only saving throw (cop-out, depending on how you look at it) is their statement about two different departments working on 2.1 and 2.2. I'm fine with waiting and seeing.

yeah apparently 2.1 was yet again the Cartel Market department...I just hope 2.2 isn't the Cartel Market department #2. Getting tired of constant new cartel stuff when things are still broken and not working right see codex see achievement system see combat delays.

Quite frankly there is much pending on this update. If all this update does is implement customization for CC coins without considering class balance, broken PvP and numerous bugs, I will vote with my money not sub, because not only the expansion did not deliver, it ruined PvP.

A lot of PvP players are hanging by a thread. If 2.1 does not deliver, it will be the last straw for many players.

There will be a ton of bug fixes but with all due respect since when is the cartel market developers and PvP developers one and the same? I'm sorry but the classes will never be truly balanced and the only nasty thing going on in PvP is bolster which as far as I know will be addressed in the update. What I do know for sure is the augment glitch will be fixed and that I'm sure will appease PvP players a bit.

Maybe its time Bioware reallocated the Cartel Market Developers to actually fixing some core game issues, instead of working on cosmetic trinkets.

PvP has been in a bad state for a while and Bolster was an example of a company that cares little about quality control. I say that because any testing team worth their salt would have found all of the issues about bolster, HAD IT BEEN TESTED.

So instead of having QA Testers, Bioware have a trinket making team. Somewhere I think the priorities got screwed.

It stinks of a corporate company that is so narrow sighted that they will milk the player base for as long as it lasts, not realising the more the play base is milked the quicker it shrivels up and goes away.

They didnt say how many employees work in each department. I think one or maybe two guys work on quality of life and new content and the rest on Cartel market stuff. Bolster is an example about how slowly that department is working. Was broken and we knew it during PTS and is still broken.

It's funny how almost each bullet point in the 2.1 patch notes has the word cartel in them
