Actual emotes work, custom emotes don't. For example if you use a canned one, the other faction will see it, if you type "/e casts a wary glance at Darth Scary", nobody of the opposite faction will see anything.

And /say travels a distance approximately equal to the Pacific Ocean so it's completely useless for anything sneaky, personal, or otherwise intended for the person right in front of you.

Waitasecond...

Did I miss a major cultural shift in MMOs? I thought us RPrs were the carebears that were afraid of a little harassment. Now the PvPrs are scared of someone saying something mean? Wow guys...wow. I guess a snowball has a fairly decent chance in Hell after all.

I hear people complain about open world PvP being non-exsistant. They're correct. It doesn't exsist, because there's no easy way to coordinate with opposed faction groups. This would be solved rather easily by enabling xfac communication. That's just one benefit.

Xfac communication would revitalise an already struggling RP community.
Xfac communication would be a huge help for guilds with people on both sides of the game.
Xfac would cut down on the massive /say spam problem that plagues RP events.

I mean honesty, prohibiting xfac communication is an arbitrary throwback of an obsolete system, that serves no real purpose. Just allow it. It's such a small thing that would have such a great impact on the community. I believe enough concessions have been made, which would spare the PvPrs (surprisingly fragile) feelings, such as FL requirements, an WZ restrictions. Tells, Custome Chat, and emotes. This isn't asking much at all.

I mean congrats BioWare. You have won. The RP community's spirit is so beaten down, and the bar is set so low, that we're literally begging just to talk to each other here. We literally just want to talk to each other.

Seriously, BioWare, don't be jerks about this. Give us this one. It's pretty much a table scrap.

I disagree on the RP community. We are resilient

This is why it won't happen.

If it did happen they would need to put a "disable cross-faction talk" on the social preferences so people could opt out.

I know I'm coming across as anti, but I'm actually neutral, I can see good sides and bad sides, and they actually balance.

Corss faction /say /yell and /emote work fine, and are enough for most situations.
However, a extra cross-faction chat channel (which is easy to opt-out from) would be nice for people wanting to coordinate something (like everyone putting on their Party Jawa in WZs)

Would be great for RP purposes. Sure you are gonna get some who will try and abuse the sytem by being idiots. But you get that in your own faction. Most of us are mature enough just to ignore those people. At the end of the day, if you were trying to protect people from cyber-bullying, bad language, and trolling, you cant stop that with there being inter faction communication. I've seen enough of it and been on the end of enough it to just /ignore. And most people do the same.

No thank you.

There is enough spam in general chat. Image doubling it.

Question for RPers; why would two people at war be talking to each other on the other side of the planet?

There is a section on the forums here you can use to set up events. Best are set up well in advance. Trying to set up a Party Jawa WZ during is going to mess with other people WZ.

I cannot disagree more. You will always have those who will abuse the system if they can. IF they do send in a harassment report. Get the GM's involved, but don't let the few who can only have fun by trying to make others miserable so that they can feel better about themselves rule and dictate chat features.

Don't you know, middle-school smack-talk and "No, yer mom, dude" comments are integral parts of what Sun Tzu's The Art of War endorses.

He said RPers, not PvPers.
