What could be done for new classes?

I believe starting a new class from level 1 will be very unlikely....just for the amount of work that would go into it.

However, I can see them doing a new advanced class kind of thing.

If we go back to the Force Mystic idea, it's be kind of cool to allow for an opportunity to learn a new AC from the Voss at level 45'ish, and maybe even have the option to create a Voss Mystic character at that level, once you reach that zone, kind of the way that you could start a Death Knight at level 50 in WoW.

Ewoks and Jawas have no class.

As I have said in every thread about this subject ever made, which is a lot of threads, I don't see new classes ever. That would require a complete new 1-50 story, with new companions etc. If anything I think its possible we could see new ACs.
Unsubscribed due to no new Operations.
I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

Ahhh ok...Ewoks & Jawas would be an engineer type class with gadgets & gizmos. This would also give the opportunity to introduce tons of new sweet crafting recipes that would make crafters happy.

I hate to borrow ideas from SWG...i cringe everytime i hear someone say they should bring back the entertainer class.

But maybe an officer type class, that buffs friendlies and debuffs enemies. Isn't that kinda how the Captain class in LOTRO worked?

A droid class would be neat too, but it would need to have something that sets it apart from other classes. Maybe it can have an adaptive body or something based on spec. DPS form you would look like a normal bipedal droid like HK-51, but if you respec to tank spec you take on the form of a droideka, or something similar to the trooper companion M1-4X. And in the other AC if you pick a healer spec you could be in the form of a medical droid or something. The actual abilities would have to be unique too so it doesnt feel like you are playing a copy of an existing class.

EDIT: omg i just realized...the idea i gave for the droid concept is similar to that of a WoW druid. Funny thing too are the names are 1 letter off, droid..druid. I was acutally thinking more about transformers, but it ended up being just like a druid hehe.
I'm not really a noob...

IMO, classes designed for a specific race. For example, Republic could get Wookie Warrior and Empire could get Transdoshan Brawler (would need better names of course). This would give Bioware a reasonable way to implement the "less human" races, it would still feel like Star Wars and touch on types of characters not already in game (unlike an Imperial Trooper or Republic Bounty Hunter), and the story could be told from a whole new perspective.

Realistically, I dont think we will ever see more classes at all. If they were to and I'm still being realistic, my guess is we might see something like what WoW did with Death Knights were we start at around level 41 and just get one class story chapter.
Roswin - 50 Jedi Sentinel | Vaelin - 50 Sith Juggernaut | Kordis - 50 Sith Marauder | Vaelis - 50 Sith Assassin | Tylus - 50 Sniper
| Vint - 43 Mercenary | Kiden - 35 Vangaurd | Skavic - 22 Jedi Sage |

Disagree. There is no requirements that a new class would have to have a 1-50. Nothing stopping them from doing a Death Knight type class that starts at a reasonably high level and has a shorter story arc. The fact that leveling is now F2P and they've done double XP weekends this seems to indicate that they don't want people spending lots of time in 1-50 leveling anymore. They want people to get to Makeb/endgame so they have to pay for things. A Heroic Class would enable them to cut costs on a new class and give players the ability to pay for a shorter grind in an alt. It would pretty much be a win-win for them.

Actually, the Double XPs where there only to get as many people ready for Makeb as possible, to have much more feedback (both written and automatic) from players. While Closed Beta is cool for fixing the major problems, you really cannot test all problems that could appear, or that only appear when you heard thousands of players on the same thing.

Also, leveling is F2P because it is the "main" part of the game. And when you are going to offer people something for free in attempt to make them start paying, you show them "yeah, you can do all this, but if you pay, you can do it better, with more characters, and have more fun". It is definitely not because they do not want to see people on lower planets...

Also, heroic classes are terrible idea. Unless they decide to do what WoW intended for DKs, sacrifice one character to let it be reborn as that AC (it would made sense for those "Fallen Jedi" stuff people want for some reason (not sure why, you want a Knight on the Empire side? roll an alt), it will be just a "Death Knight spree". Do not want.

I seriously doubt EA management has the appetite to produce such a beast.
In addition, they'll likely start reassigning members of SWTOR staff to work on the new games that will accompany the new movie trilogy. I would not be surprised to see SWTOR get left with a skeleton crew as their top talent starts designing these new games (ie potentially fresh revenue streams).

This is why WoW went downhill after Lich King and it's why one of their core execs (Rob Pardo) has rejoined the WoW team to personally lead the design of their next xpack to ensure that their golden goose doesn't shrivel up before Blizzard Titan comes online to shore up profits.

I think an animal handler would be an excellent class, I've always loved being a ranger of some sort and having a companion is already part of the game. The Story background could be quite interesting as to why you hunt, or try to save these animals, Empire could use them for biochem research, Republic could try to save them. or something along those lines. : /
