I'm not arguing that they shouldn't have been nicer to subs. But the point is -- they weren't. You want a "good reason" why subs have to pay? BW/EA wants money. Simple as that.

Doesn't have to be a moral reason, or a polite reason, or even a reason the customer agrees with. But -- if enough people withhold use of the system, maybe we will see them make a concession, like:

"Subs can use in-game credits to purchase all of the customizations that were available at launch."

For me, even that would be enough to make me a happy camper
.
This would be enough for just about everybody. Doesnt even have to be that extreme. Even if they just allowed hair and facial features would be enough for most people. There is nothing wrong with people expressing their opinion and stance on the subject now. Many avid defenders want to make people feel like it is wrong of them to do so and thats just BS.
James Ohlen: " For 2012 we really want players to feel like they're getting their money's worth. You're going to see so many changes and additions to the Star Wars Universe. It's going to be impressive. We have our Update 1.2 coming in the next week and then after that it's going to continue to roll out month after month. It's exciting."

Customer service is number 1 in any business. Most succesful business to not try to "bleed" their customers. In fact my auto shop does just the exact opposite. I try to do what I can to help people.

Every here the term "Happy wife, happy life"? The same applies to customers. You make customers happy and they keep comming back. Long term profit is always better profit then the fast buck. Who cares if I make 5 bucks off a dudes oil change if he goes to another shop that makes 300 off his brakes and everything else. If you take care of your customers then they will take care of you in return. Thats how the customer/business relationship works.

That's not his point. The people that are to "blame" for systems like this are the PLAYERS. EA Bioware knows people will use it anyway. They will wail and moan and complain on the forums but its all lip service.

You know it is too. The majority of people will just go along with it and buy it all up because they can't put their money where their mouth is. Heck, if I was EA I would do the exact same thing.

If people really wanted to make a statement they wouldn't buy coins and they wouldn't use the system. But, gamers are generally compulsive buyers. Gamers don't really stand for what they say they do and they just consume at a whim.

That is why we are where we are today.

No, profit is number one in any business. That's why monopolies are bad. No incentive to provide good customer service (among other things).

A business will only please customers to the extent that it costs less to please them than to displease them.

I dont disagree with any of that. You are correct. I know that I wont be using any of those services. I also know that if updates continue to be cartel market only, they will lose me as a customer altogether. I cannot speak for anyone else but I assure you that this is my stance and I will stand by it.

I hope you dont own a business man. If this is your business sense then you wont be very succesful. Stick to being the peon and dont waste your savings and go in debt.

You obviously haven't really worked in the real world then. Yes profit is the goal of a business, but REPEAT PROFIT (i.e: returning customers) is the BIGGER goal. You can sell a 20$ steak once and that's good, but if they don't like your service AND product ,guess what..you only sell one steak. That doesn't pay the bills. You want to please as many people as you can, because they can ALWAYS take their money elsewhere and spend it.So yeah, if you can sell a 20$ steak everyday..that's even better.
Even a monopoly like Wal-Mart understands this.
