Why do people keep on quoting that? It's old info. Only Race change costs real money now.

And THIS is how BARBERSHOP should be done.

I have no problem paying real money for new options, but paying for access to existing options is just wrong.

Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive.

If it's old info they should change their FAQ. However, the example is still valid because that was how they used to do it. Clearly SWTOR is not the first MMO to change money for appearance changes. They won't be the last either.

Yeah but if like me you have 9 toons it would take me a year or so to retweek my toons cause the original character creation was so lack luster.

I feel as though there trying to make money off a feature that was missing at launch. They didn't do enough out reach and research to see what people really wanted.

The problem is WoW is sub only, we have F2P, if they just charged credits then F2P gets the customization for free and subs get to watch F2P get more options for free by using credits. Subs get a stipend of CC's for there $15 a month which is free and doesn't cost anything additional and they've made it very clear that these new features would be substantially discounted for subs in order to not drain our stipend compared to F2P players.

Makes sense to me.

So I can log into WoW and completely re-customize my character's appearance? They might have now lumped "re-customization" into "race change" but their barbershop was *only* for hair styles.

I quit WoW a few years ago but it definitely cost real money back then to do anything outside of hair style changes.

I don't like those f2p arguments. What about thousands of players who bought the game, like any other boxed, sub-based mmo, and kept payin their sub since then? For me, TOR is just like WoW. I didn't download it for free. In-fact, I played a paid beta with lots of bugs and broken content and unbalanced classes. And once f2p rolled out, the best thing from TOR, the story, was thrown to everyone for free and the game was far more polished and most broken sbos encounters fixed. All I got was some cartel coins which could barely get me a lame set of armor. We deserve more than that. Remember that there are still lots of loyal players around who bought this game and supported it for a long time. Imo players who had active accounts for a specific period of time should get an option to use credits for minor changes (hair, beard, color, complexion).

Things change, you have to accept that. It doesn't matter that you paid for the game, that's over now. They can close the game down tomorrow, the fact you paid for a box at launch means zero.

If they're going to consider the grant as part of these features then I want a discounted sub without coins. I flatly refuse to spend CC's on what should be offered for credits. Furthermore I refuse to subsidize spending CC's on these things via the GTN.

They're taking a B2P attitude to subscribers and it's really starting to grate. Seriously guys, pick one model (B2P vs. Freemium) and you'll get a lot less grief.

Never understood comparing SWTOR to WoW, or any other P2P MMO. Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Comparing it to another F2P MMO like DCUO, makes sense. A lot of sense. You pay for: 1) power respecs (from Ice to Fire, as an example), 2) changes in size, 3) changes in gender, 4) changes in travel (flight to super speed as an example), 5) name change. By pay, I mean real life currency. As a subscriber, you get enough to almost completely redo one character each month, for free with your loyalty points.

I will compare SWTOR to DCUO. I subscribe to both (and WoW) while beta testing another MMO. If the price(s) of SWTOR are comparable, cool. If not, I will question then. If a competitor does it, and does it better, I will question if my money is appreciated and valued, and if I am being hand over fist (I think that is how that goes).

"Yep. Blasted him and the star ship he flew in on."

Just curious why you as a "Subscriber" would want F2P to have these features for free by using credits? By offering these features for credits you now allow F2P another perk for free.
