Don't like Cathar

You know what? You don't like Cathar. So... don't play Cathar.

We know, because we've been told, that racial unlocks on other species will happen if and only if Cathar unlock cartel sales are good enough to make it look like a cost-effective move in the boardroom.

As far as I can see, the 'not like Cathar' faction are divided into a majority of "I don't like Cathar being the first racial unlock, because I think it should have been Togruta/Nikto/Bothan/Jawa/Dalek/Sarlacc/etc" vs. a very few of the PVP-Hardcore "Waaa, it's cosmetic, nobody should be spending money and time on this when the Great Almighty Deity of Balance hasn't had enough sacrifices to it this month".

That latter crowd obviously aren't going to care if there are no more racial unlocks- but they seem, fortunately, to be only a very small (and illogical, different dev teams) voice amid the anti-Cathar faction... so the *majority* of people opposed to Cathar, it's fair to say, *do* want there to *be* a steady stream of racial unlocks available. They may disagree with them being cartel-based, they may disagree with the first choice, but they want there to be unlocks.

So, we've got something of a paradox- which is to say that, the principle aim of the anti-Cathar faction- i.e. that there should be racial unlocks other than Cathar available, is best served... by Cathar selling well.

Please note, I'm not for a moment suggesting that those of you who don't like Cathar should buy one anyway, "to support future expansion" or any such. Pay for the content you want, not my business in the slightest to tell you what you should be paying for.

However... if you want the consequence of good Cathar sales- i.e., eventually having playable Nikto/Nautolan/Ortolan/Gerbils/etc, but do not want to spend money on a Cathar yourself... then your best interests are surely served by as many other people as possible choosing to spend money on them.

In that case, for the Cathar-haters to start threads decrying the release of Cathar, bemoaning it and trying to stir people up against it, in the hope of decreasing said sales... is maybe kind of counter-productive?

TL;DR - Shush.

I would like to see my favourite SW race - Kel Dor http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kel_Dor
This race is playable in Jedi Academy and Plo Koon is awesome in The Clone Wars.

Maybe will be difficult to put them into SWTOR coz their language and most of them dont speak english. They cant have romance coz they wearing a mask and cant kiss their gay fellos on Makeb
I think the names are just coincidental... And what do you have against gays?

Furthermore, I am pretty neutral on Cathar races. I mean, who cares they don't fit your powerful Sith Sorcerors? To be fair, neither does Chiss! However, a Chiss would make a wonderful agent or smuggler. However, a creative person could make a reason for a feline Sith, or a Chiss one. So when Cathar is released, you have the OPTION of creating a Cathar! If I see a Cathar Sith juggernaut in PvP, yeah, I'll shoot you. Wouldn't be any different from any other race! So if you enjoy the race, find a way to suit the class. I personally see potential for Cathar in smuggler, knights, and troopers.
Ooh! In Elder Scrolls Online, I get magic spells and colossal PvP! That sounds cool, but one question, where do I get a lightsaber?

I'd like the "iconic" (as some here say) alien races as playable characters in SWtOR, but I'm more interested in Cathar, as we had one in KotOR, and several in SWtOR. Why? Not sure. Not because I like to play as cat-like species. Haven't played a game with playable cats (except for Skyrim and Oblivion).
And who are you to determine what a "real" Star Wars fan is? Don't paint with that stupid brush please.
I'd rather have Kel Dor, but Cathar will be fun too.
Let's do it similarly to how you did it (and take some parts from others here too): I am saying if you want to play Sith Pureblood more than any other race you probably aren't a Star Wars fan. (As they aren't part of the Original Films, not an "iconic" race.)
Standard signature, with no creative effort on my part.

You know...I'll tell you another reason Cathar is a ridiculous choice. At least the cat people in other games have predominantly feline features. The Cathar models in SWTOR frankly look like the result of one of those bad $5 Halloween kits where you get orange face paint, a set of rubber ears and a clip on tail.

They look nothing like cats, just like humans with crappy makeup a kid put on.

The ONLY poll that matters is the poll that Bioware did initially before they decided to do Cathar. While they were not tthe most popular they were VERY popular (top 3). The reason no other polls matter is... You are getting Cathar. Now, assume for a minute that you DO want them. You are getting them. Why would you ask Bioware to please include the Cathar? They already are going to. If you can only ask for one race, why would you waste your vote on one that you are already going to get? This is why whenever a player does a poll to "prove" that Cathar aren't popular they "prove" that Cathar aren't wanted, but it's a false negative because most of us that want Cathar aren't stupid enough to vote for them again. In that intial poll, I DID vote for Cathar over Togruta. Now? I vote for Togruta. That doesn't mean however that I want Cathar any less, once again.... I'm getting Cathar... voting for them in any polls after they were announced as coming soon would be stupid.

Personally, i'd like to see a blueish cathar, like that one officer on Makeb, would be pretty BA on a marauder or something.

...A black colored voss with red eyes would be awesome too, strange with the british accent, but still.

People need to get over this. The Cathar WILL be here. You CANNOT stop it from happening. Crying WILL NOT solve your problem. If you want other races, buy the Cathar. That's pretty much how it is. Anyone trying to think different is deluding themselves.
Hey, I'm not crying, I'm just adding to the thread that someone else started. I figured I may as well drop my two cents into the pot. And seeing as there was an opinion thread, I contributed to it, and that's my right. It's not a matter of 'do I think my opinion will stop this?'....it's a matter of me showing support to those who HATE THE FECKING CATHARS. Which I do. K thx. Bye. :P

Why does it matter? Also why do you constantly keep going back and re-editing yourself? First you say something and then several posts later will say "okay yeah but" and then followed by "well then there's this.."

You already didn't like the Cathar to begin with. Now you're complaining that they don't look enough like cats. What does it matter to what degree of cats they look like? They're a design in a fictional universe.

You know Cathar aren't real right and therefore there's no such thing as a "realistic" Cathar right?

Also we've seen varying degree of Cathar faces in the game

http://swtor.game-guide.fr/files/2012/06/cathar.jpg
http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joy.../07/cathar.jpg
http://cdn.dualshockers.com/wp-conte...TOR_Cathar.jpg
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6...psbbc8c546.jpg

Some are simpler than others, but there are ones like the first one (listed) that have features that the current playable faces don't, which is all that matters to a number of people, ie it's something different. It's something different than what the existing 1-50/55 leveling process has given us, which is why it will sell well. That's all alot of people need in some cases.

Also a big part of the reason they went with Cathar was because they were easier to do than just about every other race aside from maybe the Voss. It's a good first choice for them in order to learn what all goes into adding a new race and I don't mean purely from an art asset stand point, I mean what it takes to make the game recognize them and things like that, ie coding. If they had started with something more difficult like the Togruta they may have just given up in the process or we wouldn't be seeing them till winter or next year, rather than this summer.

I feel that if Cathar spoke another language it would look a little more normal (like wookies, some robots, or other races were they use text to show you what they are saying). I cannot imagine this being a main race in the game, and honestly don't see it being used very much... I could be wrong, but again, I dont think a Cathar would be a BA sith marauder, or a powerful Sorc. Just my opinion on the matter, seeing what other people think after playing the expansion a little and seeing the cather a little more.
I also would rather make a couple of Togruta Jedi, and maybe a Nautolan Jedi or two - if they could be added sometime soon as being playable. I mean, one class already gets a Togruta as a companion. And there are many examples of Togruta and Nautolans in lots of cool colors & color combinations. I'm more interested in waiting for them than in making a Cathar (I like cats, but I'm still not that fond of making a character of that species in TOR). Besides Togruta and Nautolan, I'd also like to see Pantoran or Wroonian or Omwati; and it might be cool to see Kel Dor and Mon Calamari added sometime (and I guess some others would still also like to see Rodian as well).
