am i the only one who thinks the double xp weekend was a bad idea?

No... it was not a bad idea at all. Understand that some of you are frustrated because you over waaay over level, but you need to manage your game play.

For me it was simple. First and foremost, don't go gear crazy. Primarily, use what you find. I mainly stayed in greens and btw, I was surprised at how good the gear looks. And just to make things more challenging, my gear was always much lower than my level.

Next, you don't have to do every bonus. I know this may be a problem for completionist, but really, it is not necessary and much less of a grind to boot.

Last, focus on your class quests. Keep the other quests as optional. You don't have to do everything in a particular area. I for one hate Balmorra so that was class quests only. The same goes with Taris. And with that, I found myself at about level for the next planet.

And finally... I made a mint off of selling armoring, mods, and enhancements I purchased with planet comms. Didn't need them as I was gearing up mainly with what I found. So... it was a win, win.

In short, you can play how you want, but if you manage your play dbl xp is great because you can see your story, level up fast, maintain a decent level of difficulty, and still make a bunch of creds. I suppose it is a moot point though. I don't foresee these weekends coming back anytime soon now that Makeb is here. I am very sure, BW does not want us flying through Makeb at break neck speed.

next time you do a double xp weekend give me an option to switch it off please
Double XP weekends weren't intended to bring back people who hadn't played in a year. They had a very specific purpose of helping people level up characters to 50 so they'd be ready to play Makeb when ROTHC launches.

If you've played the planet quests enough times, they become boring and repetitive, I marveled at the fact that by pvping and doing story quests I could skip planets that I despise.
Well, some people actually enjoy playing the game and we don't want or need to fast-forward through it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.....the power-levelers are in a rush to get to end-game so they can grind the same missions 1000 times and complain there's nothing to do at end-game. This is a leveling, story-based game and always has been. Talk about things that don't make sense....that would be people who choose to play a leveling game and then complain that they have to level. Perhaps they picked the wrong game. By the way, it's already extremely easy to level in this game even without double XP. Between all the XP boosts you can get through legacy unlocks and the consumable XP boosts, people can already skip a large portion of the content when leveling. So you shouldn't be doing the same non-class content when leveling anyway as you can pick and choose what you want to do and mix it up when leveling different characters.

If you really like optional non-storyline filler quests that much then just go do them even if you're overleveled. They're not going anywhere.
LOL, the power-levelers aren't vocal? Leaving aside the Gree Event exploit, the power-levelers have been much more vocal about double XP than the rest of us.....and I highly doubt that the power-levelers are the majority of players. So people new to the game, those of us who enjoy the story element of the game, those of us who enjoy playing alts, and those of us who enjoy leveling characters shouldn't be able to enjoy the game the way it was intended to be played because the power-leveling crowd wants to force everyone else to power-level? You want them to play the entire game 5-6 levels over all the content so that it is absolutely no challenge whatsoever? Great suggestion, sounds like a ton of fun, lol.

So the people who enjoy playing the game the way BW designed it and the way it was intended to be played should have to pervert the gameplay experience to accommodate the power-leveling crowd? You want me to play without a companion, without gear, and without any challenge for 50 levels just so you can get your 8th character to level 50 a little faster? No thanks.

Instead of trying to change the structure of the game or sucking the fun out of the gameplay experience for a huge amount of people, wouldn't it make infinite more sense to have a legacy unlock for double XP? Wouldn't everyone win that way? Wouldn't that be even better than double XP weekends for the power-levelers because it would apply all the time for them? The power-levelers can rush through the game like they want and the rest of us can enjoy the game. It would have to be an unlock with a certain legacy level requirement plus credits....no Cartel Market unlock though. We don't need brand-new players power-leveling characters to 50 before they figure out how to play the game.

Yes, double xp was pretty dumb idea, hope they'll never do this again, because it would be "goodbye swtor" for me and I still like some aspects of the game

Actually it does, unless you're ridiculously overleveled, the training can effectively double the amount of damage some moves make, and if these moves are your main melee attacks (Shiv and backstab for operatives for example) then this is important, also your equipment can mean the difference between barely completing a mission and dying repeatedly or even smashing it effortlessly. Yes how you play the character is more important, vitally so, but don't dismiss what gear you use prior to level 50, the story is mostly pre-level 50, and I'm enjoying that immensely.

I think BW should implement a switchbar or something, where players can controll their leveling speed such as in other online games.

If you genuinely enjoy the world experience including the fluff quests so much, then why at all does it matter what color the quests are? Double xp in no way prevents you from doing the quests.. Technically you're just arguing that you'd prefer to do them at a different color. We've all played the game, and after the first few hours there is no difficulty (save perhaps having to heal or resummon your companion every pull) regardless. The mobs are exactly the same and just line up one after the other on the way to your objective. Simply your rotation doesn't actually change even when the content is "difficult" so i don't see how that argument works...

You still get credits from the quests and loot... That argument implies that without gaining xp the content you want to value so much isn't fun enough.

I personally loved double xp, so because some people dont doesn't qualify as a reason for me personally not to like it..

I don't want you to do anything. I was suggesting a simple fix an alleged issue people are having. Perverting game play by not using a companion? Very funny. The fact is, it's a minor issue. Yes, it would be ideal if you had the option to turn the double XP off but it's in no way game breaking (as most of the people in this thread have pointed out).

OP, you're not the only one.

As for me, I love the double XP weekends. Allows me to focus on what I like, like running flashpoints, warzones and doing the class story. I'm a bit bored of the side quests. So I loved this little bonus the past few weekends. It really depends on where you are at in the game.

I've said this a million times. Game is really based on gear, not exactly level. Being over leveled does not trivialize the content. Leveling is just a skill point and a relative power representation.

The gear makes the fights appropriate. Gear on a planet was meant for that planet. So who cares what level you are?

This conversation need to end. It's practically over. Move on.
