You did not order before the early access deadline. That order, producing revenue for them well prior to the release of the expansion, was rewarded by granting early access to the game. You did not do that, you are not entitled to that which those individuals who did.

You are now seeking that, with no concern for those who did, effectively seeking to invalidate their contractual deal with the company because you "want" and feel entitled. In short, you fulfilled no part of the deal on your end, but insist on the same reward as those that did with no concern except your own and how it will work to your advantage.

Honestly, from my standpoint I'm truly amazed that you would even suggest such with a straight face.

Personally, I preordered late, and will not have early access but am not really losing sleep over it.

My opinion is that I certainly don't recall anything in late Dec or early Jan that clearly shouted out "If you preorder before January 7, you will have 5 days of early access". I was under the impression - as someone who only casually glances at these forums and doesn't prioritize reading fine print in emails about games I play - that preorder = early access.

When someone mentioned to me a few weeks ago that the cut off date was January 7 I was surprised. I don't think it's a particularly big deal and will just use that time to finish gearing out my comps and queuing up some quests. I'll probably still get to 55 before some members of my raid teams.

My point is that it seems to me that something like this (the 1/7 cutoff date) could have been plastered all over the launcher for 3-4 weeks instead of the cartel drivel. I know a lot of people that preordered as soon as the option came available, I don't know anyone that preordered early specifically in response to wanting to beat a known 1/7 cutoff date.

WRT the OP, yes, I do agree a lot of folks are going to be pissed as they are under the false impression. Also legit CS requests are going to drag with all the nubs calling pretending they're sure they ordered 1/6.
Yeah I'm wondering the same actually, because I kept seeing that ad pretty often, but I only recall seeing it say "Pre-Order by April 13, 2013 at 4:00PM PDT / 11:00 PM GMT and receive two new in-game items* and a unique title". I'm fairly certain that the January 7th date only appeared when the release date was announced a few weeks ago.
I pre-ordered the game in March, and while I'm disappointed that I don't get early access, it's not a big deal. Though I'm still certain that the January 7th date didn't appear until a few weeks ago.

You're wrong. It was there on Day One of the announcement. Not that it made much of a difference to the illiterate mouthbreathers on these forums.....

Listen: the reason EA/BW did this is to gain sales momentum for the product. Back when RotHC was available as a preorder, people were VERY UNHAPPY that content we had been lead to believe was free, was now being charged for. There were quite a few skeptical players, and not a whole lot of info on what exactly was in the "expansion". To overcome this negativity and gain sales traction, they include early access in the pre-order offer if purchased by January 7th. It's pretty simple and it's pretty obvious. And if you didn't get on the boat in January, you'll be waiting till April 14th. Deal with it.

It's not Bioware's idea. It's an old, old idea.

Loyalty perks have been around for centuries. Once you've got a chance to see how video games are sold, you'll see that it's very common. SWTOR did it. All the Mass Effects did it. Dragon Age and DA2 id it. I seem to remember Call of Duty doing it. Valve has given away loads of TF2 hats for pre-ordering various games. Guild Wars 2 had a pre-order bonus.

I've seen DVDs with pre-order bonuses ($5 coupon from Amazon). There was a pre-order bundle offer for the XBOX Kinect. I've bought computer hardware that came with an extended warranty if you pre-ordered. If you pre-order an unreleased car model you usually get some bonus from the dealership. A bakery near me will give you free customized decorations if you pre-order a cake.

Seriously: This is all over the world and its nothing new. It's an effective marketing strategy and it's only started making people angry now that hordes of entitled whiners feel that they should automatically have everything that anyone else has and everyone else should waste their time and money giving it to them.

I am neither illiterate or a mouthbreather. There are ways to discuss with people without insulting them to make yourself look superior. Grow up.

The January 7th date cut-off for early access was announced clearly in the very first e-mail that went out as well as the very first pre-order screen put up on the website.

None of us had any idea at that time WHEN the actual go-live of the expansion was going to occur, we only formulated rumors that it would be "sometime this spring". However, everyone knew that it would be well after Jan 7th before the expansion came out.

Many of us pre-ordered before the Jan 7th deadline, even though there wasn't a whole lot of information beyond the basics announced yet. In my case, it was because I generally enjoy the game and knew that I was more than likely going to continue playing post expansion regardless of what it included. The only chance I was going to quit was if they did something REALLY drastic to the point where the game simply wasn't worth it anymore. And I was willing to take a $10 chance that wasn't going to be the case.

So anyone complaining that they didn't know about or understand about the Jan 7th deadline for early access; or those who freely admit that they chose not to pre-order before then because they wanted more info....all I can say is that you made a choice and were fully informed of what that choice meant (no early access). So you can't come back around 4 months later and expect to gain the benefits you passed up.

You can't go to the store today and get Black Friday prices complaining that you didn't realize that they were only valid for that one day.

Oh yeah, but i have nothing against pre-ordering bonuses and early accesses ! Almost every game go this way. But i'm talking about PRE-ORDERING itself. Not what BW did. What i don't like is that BW decided to separate ''pre-order'' and ''early access''. And the cap was really long. Like 3 months and some days ago we had last day we could get early access. It's not ''pre-order'' when we still have pre-order now( as for me, i pre-ordered like 26th January).

Right, that explains it then. I never received an e-mail with the original announcement. Oh well, still not that bothered about early access.

You're very wrong.

Via tbreakingp: A post on Dec 18, 2012 referencing the original press release and including the Jan 7 early release deadline.
Via SWTORhub: A paraphrase of the release, also including the Jan 7 deadline... from Dec 18, as well.
Via DarthHater: Another report of the original release, including original graphics. Jan 7 deadline reported here, too. Posted on.. you guess it... Dec 18.
Via the Examiner: Well... just imagine I found another way to re-state the same thing as the three previous links.

The information was released very publicly, was repeated multiple times, and the Jan 7 date was shown prominently and explained very clearly.

I don't know how this could be more clear. If you missed the mention of the pre-order perk deadline in the reporting of the expansion, then there is nothing any reasonable person could do to get that information to you.
