The ignore option is there for a reason, use it.

With that said, this isn't 2D runescape ...people should really learn to use the GTM.

"I have a GTN alt on Nar Shadda and also one on Coruscant so I am there reguarly several times a day. It's actually worse there sometimes... people chain spamming several GREEN items with WTS over and over again. I've even see it now days out on the more distant planets, though it is not as bad."

Wait...You have a GTN alt and you are mad because you log on to find other people trying to sell their items? oic you want to be the only one right? Your way of selling is the only and best way, I get it.

To be honest with you, I would like to get rid of gen chat altogether. I do not think it should be there at all, for anything.

Your witty 5 person conversation isn't all that important to the ~ 100 people viewers of chat. Especially when the conversation always devolves into jawa this or chuck norris that.
Unless you are in a massive guild, you've had to PUG before.
General is the only location that you can do that. By removing a large amount of the chatter, it would make pugging easimpler. It would also make finding a seller or buyer simpler.

People should really learn... in a perfect world. Someone will always find a rationalization to ignore what they should really do.

The only way to avoid intrusive dialogue is to make private channels for one to invite others to visit and that is a viable option I believe in TOR.

That's what the entire idea is based around. Forcing people to do what we want them to.
As sad as it is, people can be controlled if you know what they want.
We know that the sellers want to sell their item. If we make it impossible to sell their item in general and only possible to sell it in trade, then they'll use trade.
Yes, you can ignore the signs that say the electric fence will kill you, but let's be honest, no one will touch the fence.
If somehow someone decides to touch the fence, I will guarantee you they won't do it again.

No. I think they won't add one since GF exists.
General will probably be used for that for now.

lol was thinking the same thing.

for the most part true crafters dont spam as they know people will place them on ignore. that being said i have not seen this as much of a problem.

what has become a problem is weekend players waiting in queue spamming jawa this and jawa that for HOURS on end; others trolling newbies basic questions and general trash talk. doing any of this and being placed on ignore only makes your queue times that much longer which some players from wow just haven't gotten yet.

sometimes when i read threads like this i just wonder if some people never played mmos before.

Maybe the forcing should be towards using the ignore option. Just saying.

Ignoring them is only a quick fix. It's better to do something that fixes the problem rather than ignoring it.
