Ilum XP Farm

For those who wish to use these toons as PVP toons, I have a suggestion.

You should really be looking to level yourself up to about just under level 40 through whatever means, then switch to doing PVP. That way, you have time to stack up large amounts of ranked and regular commendations while engaging in the PVP matches. With full PVP boosts, experience boosts, and Double XP weekends, I was pulling 50K-75K per Warzone. With that you can level from 40-50 in about a day just through PVP (albeit with some time put in).

But you'll wind up at 50 with a stack of comms that you wouldn't get from Ilum, and you'll be a lot better off getting those comms from 40-49 WZs than you will trying to farm those comms at 50 with nothing but recruit.

For those "shipping" gear to an alt, that doesn't matter much, of course, however the other comments here are still valid. You need some time to get familiar with your character with a range of fighting, not just mob crushing on Ilum. Otherwise, I would agree that you're going to be somewhat undereffective, as others have mentioned.

Ppl doing this way of levelling remind me of the ppl who would speed run Black talon/esselles over and over to max out social points... ie: I wish I had the patience to do these things because they are very efficient, but I dont have that patience so I just play it my way, they play it theirs... end of story (or more appropriately: Interlude).

After taking my 45 BH to Illum and finding groups doing this I thought I'd try it out after the BH hit 50. So I grabbed a inq that I hardly play that was lvl 22 and got them to 30 in a few hours. It was neat for a while but very boring by the end. It's a mega grind to do that all day even if its a highway to a 50.

However, the social comment above made me remember that you get somewhere between 50 and 60 social points for each pylon guardian you kill but none for spawned gold bots. Just thought that was interesting. I wrote that stuff down last night, but it was VERY late when I decided to track it and I don't know where it has got to.

Isn't the Blackhole Pass a 50 requirement?
I'd like to sit down with the guy responsible for having Busta Rhymes fight Michael Myers in HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION. Then, before he could speak, I would slap him so hard his face would explode and his dog would die." - Jim Law

No, you can buy it whenever if you have cartel coins. 125 IIRC.

BW is pretty desperate for subscribers, I don't think they'd ban a mass of them for getting to level 50 quickly. Especially with a new expansion that is 50 - 55.

Well, one problem I see is that it kills lowbie gameplay if a lot of people are doing it. People sitting on Illum powerleveling aren't queing up for flashpoints or warzones or plantetary heroics...etc. That's kind of a big deal for people wanting to level and group up the natural way. My new Shadow tank was sitting in que for places like Hammer Station and Athiss for a good while. Kind of suprising considering I thought FP would be ran a lot during double XP. Now I might know why it did'nt seem any different than any other day.

And I seriously doubt BW doesn't care. I don't think they will ban or roll back but people were obviously taking advantage of a loophole that could be borderline exploiting. Just because people are defending it doesn't make it not so. People defend exploints in every single game. Like if it's in there then the devs intended it mentality. Nothing new, same old song.

I don't think anyone should be punished for this, it's using the tools they were given, however I don't think it's a healthy thing to allow to continue. There's already posts I've seen from players who just started who are now level 50 and basically skipped the whole game and don't know what to do now.

I support the Ilum Bolster being removed in an emergency patch.

This next weekend is the last time they can do this, correct? Then gree goes away.

I have no issue with it. Like I said, I tried it last night and it turns into a really boring grind. I got 7 levels out of it but I'd rather just do the content from now on. It's just a personal preference. So people would rather have an extra 50 quickly.

I would say a great portion of players already don't know how to play their class however there is enough that do know how to play to balance out warzones and FP's. With that being said I am going to say the next couple weeks of pvp and group finder ques are going to just be terrible to the point where you will just end up stop doing them.

This not only affects subsribers in a very negitive way but also the free to play guys as well.

I'd love to see bioware do some rollbacks here, I know its not going to happen so I guess its lagacy orb strike time till this event is over.

And? A lot of people that level to 50 by slogging through the planets don't know how to play their class anyways. Doesn't matter since they'll just read a cookie cutter build that gets the most out of their class for the situation they want and move on.

personally I regret I missed out on this, I can't imagine the slow motion questing through planets like Hoth or Quesh again. The only comforting fact is that with double XP I guess half of these planets can be skipped.

1.) There will be a glut of level 50s who will be able to out farm me and my alts for resources on lower level worlds since they will be invulnerable at the lower levels. They will have to grind their skills up.

2.) Equipment prices for 50 gear will skyrocket due to demand. While I have a decent amount of credits, I am not rich in this game.

3.) There will be a huge influx of players on the level 50 FPs that will not have figured out how their toons work. I am not saying that I am an elite player but having someone who powerleveled a tank or healer try to learn their rotations/skills in a 50 hard mode isn't going to end well.

4.) Related to #2 - Inflation from the influx of 50's being able to grind all dailies and have larger credit pools to spend.
